:Today's Flowers #25

This flower was given by my Mom's friend and to give it a more natural look I've paired it with one of our plants in the pot, see it looks like our plants has its own flowers! Sometimes its better than to put it on vases! Just being creative lol!

:Today's Flowers #24

I love the soft color of this pink orchid commonly seen in southern tagalog provinces, this photo was taken in Cavite but my cousin in Laguna grow this kind of flowers in her garden. Actually every time I visit her house in Laguna she let me choose from her collection of beautiful flowers and plants. She has a 'green thumb' like my Mom and she spoils me with giving me what I want from her garden. After all she's like a real big sister to me because she grew up in my mother's house when Mom was still single.

Anyway, the last one she gave me was the red roses but unfortunately they stopped blooming when the road widening in our place started. The neverending pollution of dust and too much heat took its toil on the flower. Lately it took me several months to drop by our province so I hadn't the chance to bring home beautiful flowering plants but I promised myself I'll get some pink orchids, it's very expensive here in our place.

:Today's Flowers #18

This poinsettia was given by Leah, our tenant for so many years and has grown closer to us especially to my Mom. Our tenants know that my Mom loves plants and flowers so when they see nice plants and flowers they love to bring them to my Mom.

Poinsettia was commonly known as the Christmas flower with fiddle-shaped leaves and terminal right red flowers in clusters. They have a variety of pink flowers too! If eaten these flowers can sometimes cause vomiting and diarrhea.

:Today's Flowers #17

This flower is one of the many flowers that caught my eyes when we were at the resort in Barangay Pansol in Calamba, Laguna. We all know that the land of Laguna is known to be fruitful, it was a familiar area where the sweet Lanzones and many fruits abound. It's also my hometown province (I'm half Rizal and half Laguna) and we grow coconut trees, dalandan, lanzones and different vegetables there.

Anyway it was taken in the afternoon past 4pm while the sun is fading away as you can see there's a slight shadow on two petals. I don't know the name of this flower and I can't ask the people there because they're busy watching over their kids on the pool. I'm too shy to ask the lifeguards lol!

I have another entry in My Crossroads.

:Today's Flowers #15

This photo was taken in the entrance hall in The Grand Hotel in Taipei last summer during one of the business trips/conference attended by our company. These are many orchids planted in a big vase and placed at the middle catching the attention of people passing by the hall. Lucky that they allow visitors to take pictures.

:Today's Flower #12

Click picture to enlarge

This photo was taken in Bicolandia farm. Gumamela (Hibiscus) is a very common flower here in the
Philippines, we normally just passed by them without taking paying much attention little did we know that its uses are not ordinary. They come in many colors, red, orange, white, yellow, pink and some say purple but I still have to see a purple gumamela.

It has many uses – the leaves can be blended with Rose Hip to produce herbal tea and can be used to cure cough, bronchitis, infections, sore throat, high blood pressure, mumps, boils, fever, headaches and many others. You can search online for herbal medicine preparation.

When I was a child it’s my favorite ingredients for my liquid formula for blowing up bubbles. I just mashed and squeezed the leaves and mix it with water and soap and voila I have never ending liquid for big soap bubbles.
