:Today's Flowers #55 - Magenta Orchids!

Click the image to enlarge and see the full beauty of the orchid

My theme of flower for this week is magenta that's why I've chosen this one from my friend's garden. This is actually the neighbour of my peach orchids entry last week, they live in the same garden :-) I'm actually a lover of pale ans pastel coloured blooms but this one got so much color that you can't just pass by, I stopped and looked at this one and took a shot. I thought that this flower deserve a shot as it's really beautiful on closer look. The color is so vivid!

P.S. I just created the name of this one from its color, I don't know the name of this orchid!

Choosing the Best Web Host

The first time my offline friends knew about my blogging two years ago they keep asking me questions that puzzles their minds when they hear blogging. I started out in free web hosting then after few months I decided to buy my own domain which introduced me to a lot of flexibility in terms of blogging. I was very excited then because I got the domain name that I wished, of course my own full name.

My colleague who knows a lot of things about domains, websites, webhosts and other web-related things was not familiar with blogs then so I introduced him to the world of blogging. He’s a website developer but never gotten the time to start his own blog. Sometimes he helps me with codes and when I had a problem in redirecting my free blogs to my domains. As of now I have two web hosts which are included in the top 10 hosts listed in WpDesigner but I'm constantly checking the list for personal reason.

We’ll never know the capacity of each web hosts if we didn’t make some research or if we didn’t read reviews. Well WpDesigner selected these top 10 hosts to help the readers know certain things about the webhosts such as reliability, price, customer support, control panel, ease-of-use and server-up-time. It’s really a big help for anyone interested to have their site or blog hosted by a reliable webhost. Who wouldn’t be?

:WW - Bedimpled!

I heard someone says that dimples is a result of some irregularities or abnormality in the blood or genes. I don't know if it's true or not but all I know is I find them very cute on babies and pretty on women. Even some men have it and most of them looks very handsome with dimples be it on the cheeks or slightly longer on the jaw. I really like it and when my kids inherited it from their grandma I was glad because every time they smile I find it so cute.

This is Shaina my granddaughter (daughter of niece to my first cousin) who smiles at me with her dimples on during our visit in Laguna. See her in deep thoughts in Beyond Horizons.

Happy WW visit more entries -> here.

Cooking Coupons and More!

Women love shopping and if you’ll only be on mall-wide sale you’ll notice that major shoppers are women and sometimes the men are there only to carry their shopping bags. I think its part of our system and it’s hard to get rid of it. Personally I’m tired of going out to go to malls for sale items and discounts because you’ll have to round up the whole area in order to be sure that you got the best discounted items. Now I’m more comfortable with online shopping especially when I get bargains, discounts and deals. I’m happy enough to avail discounted prices especially on the things that I love buying.

Many women love using coupons as they find it so helpful to maximize their budget. Imagine the amount you saved if you add all the discounts you availed. Now I’m sharing my finds where you can use your Cooking coupons. I’m eyeing this cinnamon glossy stand mixer for my baking moments.
I love cooking and baking so my interests in searching for great deals lie also on the kitchenware that I need. For Mommies out there who share the same hobbies you’ll be interested to know that there are other kitchen equipment and items that you can buy for less using C Kitchen coupons to avail of discounts. Women especially mothers would love to collect their kitchenware at the best deals that they can find and coupons will be a great advantage in their shopping. Let’s shop now!

New Changes in EC

I've just received an email from EC, an info update on the new changes that management will implement next month. The letter stated that there will be changes in giving ec credits to the recipient. Starting next month the credit will only be given to the dropper unlike the present rule that both the dropper and recipient gets one credit for each drop. Oh well I'm just relieved because I was anticipating a worse situation. Thanks that it's just a small issue, but then again is it small?

Here's their advisory:

We hope that you have been pleased with Entrecard’s progress. The management team has been working hard to improve Entrecard and we thank you for your patience. We have noticed that the total number of Entrecard credits in the system has grown rapidly. This has been due to the fact that more credits are being created than credits are leaving the system. If this inflation continues, Entrecard credits will be worth less and less. To ensure a stable credit economy and reduce the outstanding credits, Entrecard will no longer give Entrecard credits to the person receiving a drop. In other words, instead of awarding 2 credits for each drop (one to the dropper and one to the blog site owner), only 1 credit will be given to the dropper. This change will be effective September 1, 2009 and will last until further notice.

We have explored many other options to deflate the credit economy and we have found this route to be the easiest and fairest way to resolve the problem for the time being. While this may seem like a set back, it has its advantages. In the long run, the prices to advertise on blogs will decline making advertising more affordable.

While we recognize your concerns, please understand that it is one of our goals to have a healthy Entrecard credit economy. This is a huge change we're making and we will continue to monitor the credit economy. We will continue to make changes as necessary to accommodate a healthy Entrecard economy. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Some Household Needs

It’s always nice to have more free time in the house, this way you’ll have time to arrange or rearrange house to your heart’s desire. I really enjoyed my new status now as a work-at-home mom because I’m the manager of my own house and I can fit in various house jobs in shorter time. Since my daughters are old enough they help me every now and then with small minor tasks in the house. Now as I’m trying to rearrange appliances I noted the ones that need repairs like the old wooden cabinets, kitchen cabinet and many others. After the rearrangement I realized that I’ll shall need tv stands also to organize things up. Of course I’ve searched online for this and quite satisfied with my finds.

:Today's Flowers #54 - Peach Orchids!

Click the image to enlarge and see the full beauty of the orchid

I've chosen this one to follow my weekly theme of having one color of flower every week. I've started with white then pink flowers now this peach orchids I've found in my bestfriend's garden when I dropped by her place. Actually JennyL told me to take a shot on their orchids so I can post it on this weekly meme of beautiful flowers. I like the color of this orchid, something like peach with shades cascading to light yellow color with a red center bloom. I forgot to ask the name of this one so I just called it the peach orchid.

Sharing Responsibilities

Running a household is not a simple task and now that I’m a work-at-home Mom I’m officially full time with my whole household. When I was working in office I was so busy that some chores that I failed to finish will be continued by my dear hubby because his office schedule was an hour later than mine. He was so supportive that he never let me handle all household tasks just because I’m the woman in the house.

Ever since we got married several years ago he shared responsibilities with household tasks, those tasks that he thinks will be harder to women or the ones that will affect my health. Now he didn’t stopped from doing what he used to do but I limit those to minimum work as I have more time now to concentrate managing our house. There are just some tasks that women can’t do or hesitant to do like fixing faucets which doesn’t seem to last for a year or fixing the car. And to that I put full responsibility to my husband.

Relaxing Vacation Thoughts

When I see couples who are planning and saving money for their marriage I remember the times that hubby and I were equally busy with wedding preparations. We were so in love that all seems exciting and we never felt the hardships and pressures of wedding. When I looked back at the occasion I think our friends and relatives were more stressed and nervous than we were at that time. We were so thankful that they helped us with every single detail in invitation, giveaways, flower arrangement, gowns, menu and reception. I was so happy that day not only with getting married with the man I love most but with the thought that many people love us to care so much how our wedding will turn out.

Now that we’re married for thirteen years we’re still the same person who is in love with each other, more matured and responsible. Sometimes we find it hard to relax and spend the day with just the two of us because of work pressures, household activities and children’s demand on us. On more relaxing days we’re planning to have a vacation that will free us from everyday hustle and bustle. We would love to spend few days away from work and home just like a romantic vacation riviera maya which offers best accommodation packages with good services not just for the hotel you’ll be staying but also with gourmet foods you’ll surely love. It’s always peaceful to spend a lazy afternoon sitting on white-sand beaches with scenic views ahead. I know I would be feeling relaxed, stress-free and romantic with my hubby beside me.

Two Tiring But Happy Days

It’s been a very busy week for me as we have two birthdays in the family this week. Ruth had her birthday last Tuesday and my sister Redge on the following day. Since I’m the official cook of the family I cooked for two days for their birthdays and also for our hosting in our weekly bible study. All in all I was really tired and my feet were aching due to prolonged standing. That’s the common sickness of cooks.

After two days I find myself resting and napping despite numerous tasks online. After all I really want that much-needed vacation which I promised myself last month just like my friend’s Vegas vacations last year. She’s staying with her sister in NYC but went to Vegas for some fun. She always wanted some recreational activities and vacation.

Josh Loves Books!

Josh is so fond of reading books, magazines and everything that he has in his school things’ cabinet. I place and store all of his school books, notebooks, writing pads, crayons, pencils and every items connected to his learning studies and we call it school cabinet. It’s good to have just one cabinet for all his items in school so even little items won’t be hard to find when needed. Now that he’s going to turn 6 next month I’m reviewing some books for additional reading and learning materials for him as I find it a waste not to give Josh as much books as he want as he really wants it.

He excels in his class not because of being a genius type but I think more of the high enthusiastic level that he has. Anything that he’s not familiar of he makes it a point to study. He always recites in their class and seemingly knows all of the lessons easily. He’s very patient and organized when it comes to studying and he wants to prepare his scheduled everyday. Now we’re reviewing some phonics book not for the school assignment but for his satisfaction only. He just loves books.

Ruth Turns 12!

It's my eldest kid's birthday today and now that she's 12 I'm beginning to accept that it's her last year of being a little girl as you can see she's a big girl now. Next year she's gonna be a teen and I'm preparing myself for the changes that comes with entering teenage years. Now I'm enjoying Ruth's company as my future heir in cooking :-). I can see her flair with cooking just like me when I was her age, I'm beginning to think that interests can be inherited too.

At her age she's beginning to show signs of interest in computer and writing, actually she's also a blogger now but asked me to keep it secret so I will not discuss her site here, she's currently making some changes on it. In school she joined the journalism class and I'm so happy that she finally had the courage to join because at first she's a little hesitant.

Anyway as a Mom I wish her the best of everything, healthy body, mind and spirit with God as her guide always. I always told her that whatever worries or problems she may encounter in the future I'll always here for her as a friend, sister and a mother.

Outdoor Relaxation

On a sunny and warm afternoon it’s nice to go outside your house and spent the lazy afternoon lounging in your favorite chair. Sometimes you just want to rest, relax and read something that interests you. Others find it worth their while if they spend a good weather afternoon with a picnic in their backyard or garden.

Having something to share with your family is something to look forward to. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a barbeque picnic or just plain snacks with chips. As for me if I’m to be given plenty of time I’d like to spend my day on a place near the beach or if it wouldn’t be possible a cozy lounging in outdoor pillows by the pool will do. A swimming resort can also be a respite from all the pressures of hectic life. Yes a day on a resort be it a beach or just a simple resort with swimming pool can bring lots of relaxation for me.

:Today's Flowers #53 - Pinkies!

I've chosen simple pink flowers for my entry this week which is one of my favorite color of flowers following white blooms. I've always loved the soft petals of pink blooms be it roses, orchids, boungainvillea or any other pink blooms that grows in our garden. Know what reminds me of pink flowers? It reminds me of my debutante days, you know the pink gown, pink hair accessories and pink roses, that's what 18th birthday is like - surrounded with pink.... For me like white flowers it exudes innocence, simplicity and the essence of being a woman.

Safe Place to Spend Family Day

It’s nice to spend your day outdoors especially on a nice sunny day. I always see families spending their rest days on river parks or other parks wherein you can play your favorite sports like softball, volleyball, basketball, badminton and other sport hobbies. It’s also a kind of bonding for the family wherein you can leave your worries at work and just spend great time with your hubby and kids.

I’ve always love doing this thing as it also refreshes my being physically, emotionally and mentally. It’s an ideal thing to do when you want your family to have some time outside your house but sometimes going out is not so good on your health if the place you frequent doesn’t have fresh air, most of the place in the city actually is not so conducive to kids’ health. If only we can have some air filters outside like what we do inside our house wherein we can filter airborne allergens to have a fresh indoor air. Since it’s impossible to have it outside we just have to choose the place to spend our family day, we can choose places in the countryside to play safe.

Real Cute Baby Beddings

I was having fun this morning with the little babies here in our compound, there were three babies here, two boys and one girl but only two of them are my grandniece and nephew, the other one is the son of our tenant. Babies are joys in every family and when there’s one inside a house you’ll be sure that the baby will somehow lighten a bad mood or prevent the family from breaking up. I forgot there’s another one coming out in October and that’s from my niece. As early as now my niece and her hubby were busy preparing for their little princess and preparations include buying baby clothes, baby accessories and Baby Bedding Sets. Actually they were thinking where to buy beautiful bedding sets for their baby girl.

Since I only know places I frequent during my pregnancy I just searched online and browsed sites that can help us find some real cute baby bedding sets and other baby items. Look what I’ve found! A designer lady bug nursery baby crib bedding 12 pc. set at BabyBeddingPalace.com for only $99.98. It’s complete with a crib bumper, crib quilt, crib skirt, fitted sheet, diaper stacker, decorative pillow, toy organizer and window valances. There’s more as they also have bonus gift for each package. What’s good in their product is the high quality of these baby crib bedding sets which is made from 100% cotton. Beddings are 100% hand made and non-allergenic so it’s perfect for our precious little ones. There are various designs available for boys and girls and they even have unisex bedding for those who want to play safe with colors. All I can say is they’re all cute, nice gift idea too!

Pastor's Birthday

It's our pastor's birthday yesterday but we didn't planned it to be held in their home as Wednesday is our schedule for bible study. I greeted him at midnight because I want to be the first to greet him though I know he could be sleeping at that time. He replied in the morning.

Redge attended the bible study with me and Josh as we can't leave him to our Mom. We don't have to rush for the cake as there's a new bakeshop in the neighborhood that sells decorated cake but too much confidence that they have stocks led us into buying a cake with a pink icing at the sides. Oh well like what Mom always telling us it's the thought that counts so we bought it anyway with careful instructions on the store that the message should be in blue letters.

After the bible study the feast was served with barbeque, menudo and the super yummy palitaw with brown buko strips on the top. It was a silent celebration compared to Pastor's birthday last year which was held in his home in Cavite where we had a hearty lunch and dinner altogether with our brethren. I can't tell his age here, it's a secret!

Busy as a Bee

We're very busy in the school now as we're arranging the food that we're going to set on Friday for the Induction of Officers. It will be an event that will be attended by all officers and we're having our town mayor and some provincial officials to officiate the event. We're pushing one good project for the school so we're doing our best to make it possible. I'm going to write the details of our project if it will push through but as of now I'll opt with the information.

I'm so busy with my kids, their school activities, chores, household matters and blogging seems to be the last on my schedule that's why I'm having a hard time catching up with my assignments and I'm starting to work (again) up to midnight. Oh I promised myself to rest earlier than 11pm but if this schedule continues I don't have much choice. I'm receiving more blessings with regards to opportunities and even though I'm busy as a bee I'm very happy. Anyway I think school will not be so busy next month. Just now I'm off to my bible study!

Skin Care

My friend keep on browsing online for fashion sites and she finally found the one that suits her taste in fashion. She found Stylehive, a fashion and style onsite that caters to shopping for women’s fashionable apparel, home goods, skin care essentials and other fun stuff. She’s enjoying the search on some of her favorite stuff and she joined its online community because she can post some of her fashion sense style there. It really excites her especially when she learned that they got products for her daily skin care regimen. You know skin care is very important in almost all women because it’s their vanity and a reflection of their beauty. A good skin makes a beautiful woman.

Its nice visiting the site as you’ll see a lot of their skin care products and be able to choose from their offered discounts and special offers. It’s like one stop shop for women as they also have some items for your homes. Sites like this one are a lot of help to anyone who want to be really fashionable in style and in sense. I’m not very fashionable but I must admit I enjoyed looking up and browsing their special offers especially the beauty products that will surely protect and maintain your good skin. Actually their products can also be a favorite gift item to women who loves having beautiful and flawless skin always.

Beautiful Manufactured Homes

Every family want to have a home of their own but due to large financing needed to own one many starting families just resort to renting apartment because all they need is to pay deposits and they can move in immediately. There are other reasons why some find it hard to buy or construct their homes and one of these reasons is the time and effort that will be demanded for when building your own house. Now you can have other options as I’ve found this site where they offer manufactured home, a single family house that was constructed in a controlled factory environment with the strictest standards and craftsmanship. I’ve seen their model homes and I can say they’re all beautiful; actually I’ve featured one model here.

What’s good about these homes are the affordability and longevity. Visit their site and choose one that will fit your family’s needs and requirements. Rest assured these manufactured homes are federally-regulated and made according to standard regulations. If you’re interested to have these they can transport it to your place and assemble the house in your chosen lot. That I can say is super convenience.

Friday Fill-Ins# 136

Serendipity

Graphic courtesy of Tonya!

And...here we go!

1. Holy Week is my favorite summertime, this is the holiday that we get together to enjoy our annual summer camp fellowship. Holy week is also the longest holiday!

2. My favorite John Hughes movies is Some Kind of Wonderful. I've watched this movie a couple of times when I was in college and years thereafter. It's really some kind of wonderful.

3. Newborn baby is something I love to touch. The feel of baby's cheek, chin, hands and feet are unbelievably soft.

4. The full moon is what the elders are looking at to declare the best time for marrying. We got married on a full moon but it's just a coincidence because we have our wedding date set long before we were told by our grannies and parents that we should set it on a full moon.

5. I'm feeling tired and sleepy right now after a busy day of being with Gen in her Math Competition.

6. When daylight fades, I want to see and capture the beauty of sunset in my cam.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleep tight, tomorrow my plans include reviewing my kids for their periodical exams and Sunday, I want to drop by CDR king for a new speaker and lots of blank CDs to store my pictures after our Sunday fellowship service.

No amount of pictures or videos taken can define the happiness and excitement of having been in a wonderful place so better plan your vacation with your family and have your dream come true.

Some suggestions? I’ve heard about Orlando vacations being so popular now because of their Theme Park Vacations. It’s very ideal there to spend your family vacation as they cater to the needs of the young and old alike. They have Walt Disney World, Museums and plenty of activities to do you can watch sports, shop and visit their beautiful attractions. The whole family will surely love this ultimate family vacation.

:WW - Josh & Gerry

We went shopping for my girls and Josh' shoes and when Josh saw the billboards featuring two of his favorite cartoon characters he asked me if he can stand there. He asked because there are salesladies nearby and he's wondering if it's ok to get near there. I told him it's ok and I asked him to pose near Gerry, he stretched his hands like Gerry and covered Tom lol! Now it's Josh and Gerry!

Happy WW visit more entries -> here.

Loves to Eat on Rainy Days

On seasons like these and when you’re in the comfort of your homes it’s always nice to watch television and eat. I just don’t know why rainy days make us cuddle up and eat plenty of foods. As today is declared as National Holiday because of Ms. Cory Aquino’s death children tend to ask for more yummy foods. I’ve cooked their favorite viand for lunch which is a boiled pork hind soup with tamarind and now they’re asking for cakes. They really have a giant appetite but if you look at my kids they’re not fat. I just wonder where they put all the foods that they’re eating lol!

Sometimes I envy my children that even if they eat a lot they don’t get excess pounds unlike adults who turned almost everything they ate into fats. Actually it’s the law of metabolism, I remember my childhood days that even if I eat plenty of sweets and delicious foods my weight remains the same. My cousin who grew up with me was a complete opposite of me when it comes to body built as she’s fat since she’s a child and now that she’s married and already have two kids she grew very big that she really needs some diet pills like Fastin to help her shed unwanted pounds. I just told her that anything she planned to take she must first consult her doctor for safe advices. I told her she can also try what I’m doing now and that’s my fruits and vegetable diet but she wanted a fast diet!

I Love Walking Through Drizzle

It’s raining again and from the looks of it rain showers will be for the whole month. Anyway I like rain as long as it’s not storm or typhoon. I like it best when it’s just light rains, the one that you can walk without cover on your head. My Mom would be angry if she saw me doing that but I just love it. When I’m still working in my Libis office I always bring my jacket with me whenever the weather is a little bit cold or there’s a promise of rain in the morning.

I’m not so keen on bringing umbrella as that wouldn’t keep me warm from cold, I’m a chilly person lol! When it’s time to go home and there’s rain the guard would assist me with umbrella until I got vehicle and as long as I have my jacket rain wouldn’t keep me from moving. I also have this funny and light-hearted feeling when walking on drizzle. I love the feeling of soft light rain touching my face, make me feel young again and make me remember my childhood days playing in the rain. Yap I have plenty of memorable rainy days when I was young and those are very happy memories! How about you? Don’t you like rainy days?

Advantage of Satellite Radios

After I’ve finally left the office permanently I have so many things in mind to do the first day that I’m going to be home. I’ve planned everything and listed all that needs priority in arranging our house. The first day was a very busy day as I’ve done some general inventory of my things that I’ve brought from office, the documents that need to be sorted out and personal belongings that need to be stored carefully. Then there’s the car which I’ve already bought and paid to my boss. Actually it’s already deducted in my separation pay so there’s no worry about that.

Now that I legally own the car I want to check and see what’s to be done on it like deciding if I want to repaint it or replace the whole body of the car to save money. It’s a lot cheaper if I buy a whole body than repair the old one. I would be happy to see it done and I’m also thinking of buying satellite radios together with complete car kit to install in our car. It’s nice having it in our vehicle as it has advanced features to give us real enjoyment in listening our favorite news, talk shows, exciting sports and of course beautiful music while traveling. It’s so easy to install and has everything you need in a radio plus the convenience of having it when and where you want it.

Discipline is Important

It’s hard to maintain a good and healthy body when you have no control over your food intake. We always have temptations on many occasions and self-control is always tested. On such occasions many of us would probably say this is my last time to eat plenty and tomorrow I’ll start my diet but that’s a history. It’s always tomorrow because it’s easy to say it than doing it.

I’m saying this because I’ve experienced it especially when I’m in the office and there are birthdays, despedida and company parties. It’s hard to resist because it’s always happier to indulge on foods when you’re in a group. Eating together is always fun but most of the times you’re not in control of what you’re eating. After the occasion that’s the time that you’ll realize that you’ve crossed over the gate of your discipline. Then you’ll need something that will help you shed off excess pounds like ephedra. Many people should be aware that it’s also best to consult your doctor first before taking some diet pills and when taking it you should also maintain proper diet food plan, exercise and a lot of discipline on yourself.

:Photohunt 172 : Entertainment (Mascot)

Here in the Philippines if you want kids to enjoy birthday parties just celebrate it in Jollibee and you'll surely make them happy. Here's a shot from my niece' 7th birthday which my brother hosted it at Jollibee in Ever branch. Josh was only 3 years old then and he's not so keen on getting close to Jollibee mascot that's why he's not included here, it's just Mitch, the birthday celebrant and Ruth.

Got another entry in my other blog Beyond Horizons:
