Eye Surgery

My mom suddenly lost her sight last week. She has a cataract since last year but decided not to undergo an operation for fear that it might get worse. She told us that since she still has her left eye it would suffice her on her old days. We still convince her to have her cataract removed but the occurrence last March 23 finally made her stronger to face her impending eye surgery.

The eye specialist at River Valley Eye Center told us that something happened in her retina nerve causing her to lose her sight totally and he suggested that we concentrate on the eye with cataract. He recommended few laboratory tests and we’re so happy that Mom is cleared of any sickness and her results were all good. We’ll just have to inform the doctor’s staff for operation schedule. We know God will help her in her operation.

Relaxing Thought!

I’ve been busy these days planning how to work once a week on my office works and caring for my mom. She was scheduled to undergo a cataract operation and we’re making sure that she’s on perfect healthy condition before the surgery date. It’s very seldom now that I sit on my PC because I’m so occupied with household things and supervision of gate and fence construction.

When I’m resting I sometimes imagine myself lounging on a comfortable sofa on a cozy hotel like San Diego hotel viewing the sunset. I’ve always loved the scenic view of a sunset, it somehow relaxes me especially with a strong brewed coffee on the side. Well after a month of my mom’s operation we’re planning to go to her hometown in Laguna and spend some time there to rest and be reunited with her friends and relatives. Such a lovely thought!

Advantage of Modern Technology

Being online most of the times gets you connected to your friends living abroad; I just had a chat to with my friend Regie who’s living in Australia for 6 years now. It’s really a big advantage having good access to internet at work and at home. It also gave me a chance to have an opportunity to earn extra income at home doing some write ups for product advertisement. That’s what you call the advantage of modern technology. And speaking of technology I heard that you can access and watch digital videos from anywhere from a Slingbox that’s connected to your television. That’s the power of digital technology.

Josh’ Kinder Graduation!

Once again it’s our little kid’s kinder graduation, the second time since he started schooling. We’re all happy to know that our little son once again included in the honor roll. Last year on his nursery graduation he got the second place and now he finally made it to the top, forgive me for being like this, you know mommies being always proud of their kids!
We’re relieved that their schedule was set in the morning and we arrived just in time for the ceremony. I let Josh run over his speech in the car to make sure he got the right pauses. He was assigned to deliver the speech on the giving of honors and he delivered it well. St. Audry Learning Center was as always disciplined with their time sked and we were finished after more than an hour. We dropped by Ruth and Gen’s school and asked their teachers to let them consume their one and a half break time with us.
We celebrated the occasion in their favorite chicken fast food. I heard Josh saying that he’s happy that we have my mom with us, he’s so close to his granny and wanted her to be with us always, talk about granny-grandson bonding lol!

Here's to share some pics:
Of course my sis Redge - Josh' Tita Mama was there to take pics
and to see Josh deliver speech and graduate!

I Need a Higher Memory

It’s fun visiting different sites because you’ll definitely learn a lot from reading information and stories. When I want to relax I browsed exciting informative blogs to make my time worthwhile while resting. But sometimes opening multiple sites slows down my computer so I think I really need computer memory upgrade to cope up with my higher memory requirements. It would be really fun to have a higher memory so I can browse sites faster. It would be also helpful on my entrecard dropping.

:WW - Fairy Ruth!

She's my fairy daughter! Just took a candid shot on her after her play 'Cinderella' where she portrayed the role of Cinderella's fairy godmother. The play was one of their final exam in English and I was there to help her with her costumes and some play accessories, stage mother lol! I was glad I had a chance to take some pictures of my dear Ruth!

Josh' Graduation Practice

I’ve attended Josh graduation practice yesterday after I’ve dropped by Ruth’s school to watch her stage play. All parents or guardians are required to attend to achieve an orderly graduation ceremony on Friday. The practice lasted only for about an hour because the preschoolers already know what they will do.

This year Josh was again assigned the speech for the awarding of honors and even though he’s not very keen on memorizing his speech he delivered it quite well. Just need to practice on the pauses after the sentences because kids are really like that they seem to put periods and pauses the way they want it lol! Josh has a clear and strong voice if he’s in the mood but sometimes he makes fun of himself when he talks. After the practice we ended our time in the school eating dirty ice cream, not dirty of course just the name lol!

Health Supplement

I easily get tired these days, it must be the heat brought about by the summer season. I’m always like this when I reached my peak weight gain, I gained so much these past two months that I’m starting to control on carbo foods. I can’t go on a strict diet plan when I have so many things to think about my work because when I’m pressured I tend to eat and crave for chocolates and some sweets. It relaxes me somehow!

Now that I need to cut down on carbohydrates and sweets I tried to think of some nutritional health supplements that will make me strong but not fat. I need some of these supplements to lower my cholesterol and at the same time support my body with all the vitamins that I need to help me gain some strength for everyday living.

:Today's Flowers #31

These flowers were taken from my cousin's garden, he lives just beside our compound. We also have this kind of blooms but ours are just starting to bloom so I decided to shoot their flowers. I've been seeing these flowers frequently now on most houses in our place and on some villages where my kids' schools are located. It has many colors and I've posted variety in my other blog.

Need To Replace Light Bulbs

I always call my kids on break time and some free time on my work. It makes me feel safe when I checked that they’re home already and when I talked to them. When I’m talking with my youngest I was always laughing at the end because he always has some antics to tell and he finish the conversation with a note to bring him his favorite donuts.

My two daughters on the other hand will always remind me what’s needed in our house like now they just told me that we should replace our old light bulbs with a new one because they need brighter bulbs in their study area. It’s easier for me to learn what’s to be bought because I can drop by easily at a store on my way home after office. Working moms must always be like that, maximizing time to have more quality time for the family.

:Today's Flowers #30

My entry this week is again a white flower, I really like the simple beauty of white blooms be it chrysanthemum, hibiscus, roses, lily, daisy, jasmine or any white petal flower. We have many in our compound but the white dainty petals of small flowers can't be captured clearly sometimes. This one grows like a small tree far from the sizes of the usual white blooms nevertheless it's also beautiful. This one was captured in Indang, Cavite.

Vacation Ideas

Summer is here now and most people are planning to have some getaway vacation here and abroad. For those who want to escape the very hot atmosphere in this tropical country they plan to go somewhere colder. Some I knew mixed business trip with vacation like extending their stay after some international conferences, the idea is very logical as they save time and money doing this. A friend who had her schedule full of business meeting in Singapore decided to stay a few days more to visit her sister who's been staying there for about two years. It makes her trip fulfilling as she also had her vacation there.

For some of the people thinking of places to stay you can search online for nice vacation packages like Vegas vacations or in some romantic or historical place. For me I prefer a vacation by the beach, somewhere where I can see the sun shine in the morning, feel the tropical breeze of the air by the ocean and watch the beauty of the setting of the sun. It doesn’t matter if it’s here in the Philippines or abroad.

Warm Ambience

Lighting enhances your homes in the sense that you could make a choice if you want to have warm ambience in the house or a cooler atmosphere. It depends on your choice or preference. For me I want a house with a homey atmosphere with warm lightings on the living room and bright lightings on the kitchen as long as it doesn’t cost me much. I prefer led lighting on all parts of the house indoor and outdoor for economic purpose and long-life. It saves me a lot on my electric bills without having problems on what shape and size I want because they have all the variations I want.

Heidi & Lister's Wedding

It's my niece' wedding, another wedding after Crisna for which I posted last December. They're both my nieces to my male first cousins Kuya Audy and Kuya Eddie. I saw Heidi grew up from baby to toddler to little girl and to being the woman she is now. Despite some trials that happened in her family she bravely faced the challenges and succeeded. She graduated with two courses Computer Secretarial and Bachelor's Degree in Education.

My father's youngest sister Tya Elvie raised her up until she became a very good preschool teacher. She continued the teaching profession legacy in our clan and loved every single day of enriching the kids’ knowledge. I was happy that she has chosen to be a teacher, one of the most humble and dignified profession. My mom and my two aunties were retired teachers. I love teaching in fact I was the one who taught Heidi how to read the ABCD book when she was 6 years old but I don’t have the patience of teaching more than 10 students lol!

It was a civil wedding only and they will plan for a church wedding in the coming years. They picked me and my Kuya to be one of their sponsors and I was happy to accept it. She grew up with us and we love her. Lister on the other hand became Josh’ favorite as they always play cars when Lister visits us. Mayor Mon Ilagan officiated the ceremony and it was a very enlightening moment as he discussed the value of respect, trust and love in every relationship. He’s a very good speaker owing to his many years in the media I guess. We laughed with his antics and agreed with his advices.

We later had our late lunch reception in Max’s Restaurant in Sta. Lucia Grand Mall with just a few close relatives present in the occasion. Mom and Tya Elvie didn’t make it so they just brought food packages back home.

Social Security Coverage

For several years now that I’m employed I’ve enjoyed having my social security contributed not only by myself but with the help of my employers. In this way you’ll have more remittances deposited on your account unlike those with voluntary contributions. Actually I’ve reached the minimum contributions needed for an early retirement and I was very thankful that anytime I stopped working I can enjoy my contributed remittances.

It’s a great help for employees to be secured with social security insurance which covers pension when you reached maturity, maternity and sickness benefits, disability insurance, salary loans and many other benefits opened to contributing members. It’s good to have one because you’ll never know what will happen to you when you’re working, at least you’ll be covered enough. There are other companies that will assist you in your medical and healthcare needs; you can actually browse them online.
