Parting with Used Textbooks

I love reading books and I remember buying second hand books in Avenida when I was in college. I can support my hobby if I buy used books so I made it a point to visit that particular street where used books were sold at very low price. I have other school friends who went with me because they were also fond of reading books. I was telling a story to my kids about my quest for my favorite books and finding them on the sidewalk of busy street in Manila.

I’m glad that there are people who sell their old and used books because some other people can enjoy reading and collecting books at very affordable prices. What my friend like now is to sell textbooks that she didn’t want to keep anymore. She has collected a good amount of new books lately and organizing them now when she found out that she’ll be running out of space. She had to part with her textbooks or she will not be able to arrange her new books on the shelf.

Some Nice Good Books

My cousin always visits me and Mom on her free time and because she saw that I’m fond of reading books in between doing my online and offline tasks she went to her friend. The friend who has a nice collection of good books to read lends some nice ones for me to borrow. I was surprised and glad when I saw the books and it’s nice to note down that books are about work attitude, inspirational, friendship and family. I really enjoy reading but sometimes I don’t have the privilege and luxury of time. Maybe this summer vacation will give me ample time to do some of my hobbies.

Josh Loves Books!

Josh is so fond of reading books, magazines and everything that he has in his school things’ cabinet. I place and store all of his school books, notebooks, writing pads, crayons, pencils and every items connected to his learning studies and we call it school cabinet. It’s good to have just one cabinet for all his items in school so even little items won’t be hard to find when needed. Now that he’s going to turn 6 next month I’m reviewing some books for additional reading and learning materials for him as I find it a waste not to give Josh as much books as he want as he really wants it.

He excels in his class not because of being a genius type but I think more of the high enthusiastic level that he has. Anything that he’s not familiar of he makes it a point to study. He always recites in their class and seemingly knows all of the lessons easily. He’s very patient and organized when it comes to studying and he wants to prepare his scheduled everyday. Now we’re reviewing some phonics book not for the school assignment but for his satisfaction only. He just loves books.

She Loves Books

Now that my kids are on vacation they’re so engrossed with many things that occupy their time and interest. I don’t approve letting them go somewhere just to play computer games so I just let them play online games in the convenience of our home. I allow them to play but I limit their playing time so I just let them browse some educational sites that I approve.

Gen, my daughter who is really fond of reading and collecting books especially almanac love to browse online bookstore and she found some Amazon books that caught her interest on science. She really love it and kept on visiting the site remembering some nice books that she asked me to buy for her. Actually I love books also and I found one about health which I can use on our everyday living.

Personalized Books for our Kids

Our children are God’s most beloved gift to us. We do everything to give them the best. We work for their needs and bears life’s everyday worries knowing there are little angels who love and depend on us. There are different ways of caring and loving them, some are just normal while others are over protective. No matter what your style is, be it obvious caring or not so the most important thing is we’ll do everything with the help of God to make them happy.

As for me I add some little memorable things on special occasions. On their birthdays I always give my kids personalized cards with picture of each member of our family with personalized handwritten dedications. They really love it because it represents so much love and care. Another special gift which is truly unique is giving them personalized books which gives a perfectly personal touch. Just imagine the excitement and fascination you’ll see in your child’s eye, truly wonderful!

Book Fair

Alongside with St. Audry's costume party they also have a book fair sale at the entrance. Books on sale are coloring books, educational books on alphabets/numbers and very colorful story books ranging from small to giant size hard bound books. Good thing about school's book fair is that prices are on discounted rates. I saw books ranging from P30 and above.

Those books I usually see on famous bookstores are 25-50% less. I remember my second child Gen who's so fond of books but she's on her school on that day so she wasn't able to look on the books for sale. Anyway most of the books there are for Josh' age ranges from 3-6 years old so maybe she'll be a little bored on the lineup. Gen is so fond of Almanac books. Whenever there's a book fair on their own school Gen and Ruth gets to buy something that they like, I gave them allowances for buying books. Actually we have collection on thesaurus, synonyms, antonyms, science and educational books that they bought every book fair sale. How about your kids, what books do they prefer?
