Gen's Natural Talent in Music

The whole family loves music and it’s not a surprise considering that we came from a family of musician. Grandfather plays alfa, my uncle sings beautifully and the rest follows. Now all of my brother’s four kids plays various instruments same with my own kids. My daughter Gen plays the most among them and she learns fast even without formal music schooling. When she wants an instrument to play she just set her mind into it, get the instrument and she will start playing it. She usually takes some music pieces online.

When I heard her play piano my soul relaxes and soothes my spirit. That’s the effect the effect of music played in piano to me. I also love guitar so when my Gen falls in love with playing guitar I feel like my childhood dreams of being an instrumentalist came true. She loves every minute of tinkering guitar just as she loves playing her fingers on the keyboard. My daughter has a natural talent so when she asked me if she would be able to buy music items like gibson es I always say yes but will tell her that if we have budget.

The Calming Effect of Music to Our Home

Last weekend is such a nice long weekend because we all had a rest; we didn’t plan to go anywhere so we just had a good family time together in the house. Well my girls, as expected have some college papers and drawings to do so they’re glad to have some day off the university. They both go to the same university so it’s easier for me to monitor them. They’re taking up two quite different courses; the eldest in Hospitality Management dealing with hotel, restaurant, resort, cruise and transportation management and the younger daughter pursuing Industrial Engineering. I’m lucky to have two dedicated students who want to reach their dreams. They’re both inspired with their chosen career and will study hard to achieve their goals. 

Well life is not all work and no play as with my girls they also relax and take a break from studying and when they do they manage to tinker their favorite musical instruments to unwind and have some nice sounds. Gen is playing various instruments but her favorite is guitar. She’s actually pining for an electrical guitar these past few weeks especially when she gets to see charvel san dimas. Playing guitar is such a nice respite for her from many pressures of taking up Engineering and when she does it she’s also making me feel serene and happy. That’s the effect of hearing her play a guitar or keyboard to me, a calming effect.

My little boy saw this and he loves this and imagines playing in their school play as a pirate. This school year they were trained and taught different roles to play. He played as a politician, engineer, fireman, street boy and many other roles. He excitedly played them all and got good grades. With all of those plays we did some really hard to do props like fire truck, car, armor of God and a lot more.

His Dad contributed a lot in his school works arranging all costumes and things to use and even spent over nights. Anyway Josh just told me that this pirate playhouse is really cool and nice to play with his school friends with pirate costumes of course. Plans for New Bedroom

I’m excited by the plans hubby has made for the construction of a new bedroom for us. Since we’ve renovated our ground floor last year to make way for Ruth’s debut we haven’t planned where to construct our new room. Our old bedroom was removed and turned into a new dining area which was suggested by my brother since it has a not-so-nice vibration. It was found out that it stands on an old septic tank and according to Feng Shui it should not be made a sleeping area as the area should be open to invite a good ambiance. True enough blessings came pouring in when the old room was removed and now the open room seems very cool and has a friendly ambiance. 

Now we’re eyeing the area at the top of our kitchen since it’s the only area in the house with no upper floor. We’re going to save for slab and hopefully we’re going to start the construction next year. Since it’s a big area we’re planning a big room with extra space for my growing up boy’s musical instruments. He really wanted a separate room for the instruments so we’re saving some space for his request. Lately he’s been looking frequently at an online shop for piano music and for some of his most wanted musical accessories and instruments, wondering when he can buy some of the stuff there. Well for now he can’t buy all those things but maybe in the next few years we can invest on some.

Laminated Flooring

We’re glad to see that we had our flooring replaced with new vinyl tiles. We opt to use vinyl instead of tiles because we’re afraid that it will be too slippery for Mom. Since we’ve chosen a real tile-like design everyone would think twice if it’s a vinyl or not. Well it’s not only on the kind of tile or floor material you chose that matters but on the quality on how you install the tiles as well.

We’ve made sure that the worker we’ve hired would carefully install it to look like a continuous flooring because it’s perfectly joined together like what I saw last week which made my eyes contented. They used alloc laminate flooring which uses mechanized locking systems and claimed to last for a long time with its feature of resist wear, moisture, fade, moisture and others. Anyway since our flooring is new it’s still as beautiful as the real cement flooring. Hope our own will last also.

Learning How to Paint

Last summer vacation of my kids they were looking for something to do during their break from school. They were actually choosing from their most loved hobbies like music, art and playing board games. They love playing musical instruments and they practiced on some of their favorite Christian music pieces. They played guitar and keyboards and were contented on using their free time strumming and playing.

Well aside from music they also love art and were gifted with some art skills, thanks to my father’s genes. They inherited from my Mom’s father the gift in music and art skills from my Dad’s family. Call it luck. Anyway my youngest is the most interested in arts and he can spend the day doing lettering and sketching anime and some other images. He was a member of the Art Club in his 6 years in Grade School and he really had his heart on it. He loves it dearly.

Now that he’s on his secondary education he’s starting to start on a higher level on art and is thinking of pursuing it by joining a High School Art Club in his new school. He’s talking about learning how to paint in the next few months and asking me to start buying him art supplies for his new project. I’m now canvassing some paint materials including an art easel which is very essential when he start painting. I still have time to save for the expensive accessories and materials for his new painting project hobby and when I finally have the resources we will definitely start it. He’s now looking forward to start painting his creative ideas and images just like my cousins who were gifted with such great hands on painting.

Back to Early Morning Mom Duties

It’s back to school and I’m back to my regular early hours of cooking and preparing early breakfast and packed lunch for my 3 kids. Well my 2 daughters are not kids anymore, they’re already teens but I’m used to calling them kids. I woke up at 3am, cook for them, prepare their packed lunch and see them as they board the bus to go to their school in Manila. I accompany my youngest boy to his school and from there I go to my work leaving my husband to clean up before going to his own school to teach there. 

It was a very fast routine Mommy job but I love it. I love seeing my kids enjoy the food I cook, I love seeing them go their way to their universities and I love sending my growing up son up to the gate of his new high school. It’s like loving the way we spend our weekend together with cracking jokes, enjoying meals together and singing our favorite Christian songs. I also like hearing what they play with their musical instruments and when they sing some songs. I was actually thinking that it would be great if we have amplivox in the house but I know it’s usually used on events and occasions. Nevertheless I would love buying this kind of portable sound system in the next few years so we can use it at home and in our church as well.
