Mom’s Special Love

Mothers are superwomen for me as they love and care endlessly from the moment their children were born up to when they have their own families. As they always say mother’s love is unselfish and pure. My own Mom cares for us deeply even until now that she’s too old to do simple chores. Even when at time she’s difficult to understand I still love her so. I know that many would also claim that they love their mothers but few can really express it with actions.

They should be given special treatment and attention not just on Mother’s Day but every day of the year as expressing our love should not be occasional only. Anyway for those who really want to make their Mom feel special there are many gift ideas that they can choose on malls and online shops like www.joyjewelers.com/modules/mothers. A flower, simple accessories, cake or even a watch or ring will be such a nice gift for someone who loves their kids more than themselves. My own Mom loves flowers and definitely she should have beautiful flowers not just on Mother’s Day but on other days too.

What Makes Them Happy

My Mom in her eighties is still the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen inside and out and though lately she has become a little sensitive at times she’s still the best. She’s the friendliest person I’ve ever met and up to this time her list is still counting. She’s also a very optimistic person but on some occasion her positive outlook gets affected by her ill feeling.

Anyway she always has nuggets for wisdom and I still remember what she’s always telling me since I was a little child. She always reminds me that a simple thought and care to an old fellow is something that they value a lot. When your parents get old and children gets so busy with family, career, personal life and every little thing they want to achieve they tend to forget their old parents who are always waiting for their phones to ring. It would take just one call to make them happy.

I’m very lucky to be with my Mom the whole of my life and for that I learned that what she told when I was just a kid is true. When she gets sick and lonely it would only take one call from my big brother and she would be very happy and well. I always tell them that Mom would be well if my brother would drop by and visit her. He didn’t have to do anything, bring anything or say anything- just seeing him would certainly perk up my Mom’s feelings.

Both me and my sister lives with our Mom so she gets to see us every day, make little requests from anytime and talk/chat with us every morning or evening. It’s my brother whom she didn’t see daily that the magic of her sickness happens when she misses him. He is her one and only boy and maybe when one of my kids will come to live far from me in the future I’ll feel the same also.

Every individual will get old in time but what’s important is showing our love to them when the sunset of their life comes. We should make an effort to call them regularly, drop by every now and then or let them feel they’re always remembered even though you’re apart. They didn’t left or forgotten you when you’re young so they deserve to have our best attention and love when they’re old and misses us.

Mom's Day

This is a late post of our celebration of Mom's day last 2 weeks.  We celebrated on the evening of 11th to avoid the crowd and to allow ourselves more time to enjoy our bonding.  We have fellowship on Sunday and it would be so late if we will have dinner at 8-9pm.  Anyway it's just a simple dinner with husband, kids, my sister and of course my Mom.  We always do it together - two Moms' celebration every year in one dinner.  Strolling through the mall near us we just ask them where they want to eat.  Since the kids like halo halo and cakes we ate at Goldilocks to enjoy what they want.

After dinner Mom and sister went home because Mom was tired already and wanted to rest earlier while we enjoyed the remaining few hours at the World of Fun.  Kids just love celebrating occasions with playing at the arcade as our final stop over.  Well the kids in us prompted us to play also and I enjoyed baseball and basketball so much, of course with my kids beside me.

Here are some pics to cap the bonding and fun:

Growing Up Really Fast

My daughter Ruth is fast growing up and maybe after one or two year’s time she’ll be as tall as me. Next year she’ll be in high school and will start her adolescence period where she’ll experience having pimples, sudden changes in her biological self, maybe have some crushes and enjoy her teenage years. As she’s only 12 now I’ll enjoy her last year of being a girl because I know when she enters high school life would be different for her with her new school, new friends and new environment. The next thing I know she’ll be asking me about acne treatment gel when she experience having acne or ask about taking care of her face and body skin. Too many presumptions on my mind and that’s because I’m her Mommy and whatever stage she’ll be passing through I’ll always be beside her to guide, care and love her.

What Is A Mother?

'Mother', strength and dignity are her clothing and she smiles at the future. She opens her mouth in wisdom and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue - from the book of proverbs.

I've received many inspiring and touching messages from my friends, single and mothers alike and I'd like to share some of them with you:

A Mom is Gods love in action. She looks with her heart and feels with her eyes. A Mom is the bank where her children deposit all their worries and hurt. A Mom is the cement that keeps herfamily together and her love lasts a lifetime.

A mother has strengths that's amazing.

She can handle trouble and carry heavy burdens.
She holds happiness and love.
She smiles when she feels like screaming.
She sings when she feels like crying.
Cries when she is happy and laugh when she is afraid.
Her love is UNCONDITIONAL!
That's what Mothers are!

Celebrating Mother's Day All Year Long

We all love our mothers, they are the ones who love us dearly and nurtured us with much loving care from the time we were born up to when we were big enough to care for ourselves. But that didn’t stop their caring for us as most of them extended their caring to our children which are their grandchildren. Actually our mother usually pampers our children spoiling them with their attention. Oh what would we do without our dear mothers, they are God’s gift to us. Every second week of May we celebrate mother’s day in appreciation of their sacrifices and love given to us without expecting anything in return.

To celebrate the occasion we plan ahead of time what would be the perfect activities. It is when we choose the flowers; we buy the card and cooked a special meal for her. She always cooks for us so it’s time that she sits and waits for our special cooked dinner for her, isn’t it exciting? It’s better to have a mother’s day checklist for us not to forget anything especially if we want to celebrate it outside our homes like a trip to some place or a dinner to a cozy restaurant or some memorable place that she want to go, anything that would her happy. After all it’s her very special day.

I came upon Mother’s Day Central where mothers are the focus of the site celebrating mothers all year long and they provide tips and guidelines on how to make the day special for your mother, they even have history of the occasion. There’s one link in their site that I really like reading and that’s the motherisms where they speaks about the common phrases of our moms when they were scolding us, praising us or when lecturing us, It put a smile on my face recognizing those words, well not all of them as mothers are different. They usually have quotable lines to let us know what they think. When I looked back at my teenager days I usually laugh and wonder why I’m saying some of those favorite motherisms to my own kids. So it’s right that when you reach motherhood you’ll be like your mom also. Funny but true! Whoever and whatever your mom is love her not only on mother’s day but all year long.

Super Touched

Was crying yesterday night when I read my sister's post for Mother's Day. I was redirecting her blog to her domain name and adding some links when I saw her post titled Super Moms. It was an appreciative gesture on her part for my Mom's good upbringing to us despite of the hardships that came our way. As I go along her post I started to reminisce how my Mom raised us beautifully despite what happened to my father. He had a stroke when I was 13 yrs. old transforming our way of life from being luxurious to simple living. This didn't discouraged my mother from getting on with rising and giving us the best of her care, love and financial support. She was a teacher then and she imparted to us the value of education in one's life. Despite being the sole breadwinner she succeeded in making all three of us graduate from college in our chosen field of studies.

Last part was all about me, my office works, my kids and all my struggles in life trying to be the best in both worlds and that's being a career woman, a wife and a mother. She used to call me wonder woman in the past and seeing that alias in her post made me realized that she really thinks so! Actually she's also the best sister for me as she's always there to help, support and advice me whenever I need her and whatever it is. We're like best friends only if you see us, we don't look the same having acquired features from different side so people who don't know us always mistaken us for being friends and not sisters.

Dinner with Moms

Since it's Sunday fellowship Redge left the church after the morning service, go home first and fetch Mom to go to the mall to have some shopping and dinner. After the afternoon service has finished we informed Redge that we can follow them at Robinson's Metro East so we can also have dinner. Since morning they were asking and requesting us to go somewhere where we can stroll, shop and eat to celebrate Mother's Day, my kids were excited at the occasion especially Josh. Redge had a hard time parting with him when she prepared to leave earlier. I have to carry him back to our service place.

Anyway I also wanted them to enjoy so we hurriedly follow my Mom and sister, the kids played immediately upon seeing Timezone while I entered Greenwich which I saw was getting ready to close. That can't be as Josh was so hungry and they all want pizza. Luckily I'm already in when the close sign was placed. Had ordered chicken, spaghetti, pizza and macaroni salad. When they finally arrived the dining place the store was closed but I told the store that my food orders are for them so they let my family entered the pizza store. Had a great time in a simple pizza dinner! How about you have you shared your time with your kids yesterday?
