My Blogging Journey, 14 Years and Counting

Since I was in school I have a passion in writing and I used to write short poems and kept it tucked in my diary for my own satisfaction. My love for writing has helped me to excel in technical writing and in my early years of working I was able to use it in doing Technical Proposals.

I began my blogging journey when my best friend introduced me to her world. She’s a digiscrapper then and her friends taught her how to earn online through writing posts on a journal. She thought that blogging would be perfect for me as I’m fond of writing since we were in high school. I already have 3 small kids at that time and I love writing a journal about their progress in life. When I first heard and learned about it my heart fluttered because it would be really great to continue my passion for writing and earn at the same time.

I started fourteen years ago in April of 2007 making my first blog in a free hosted blog platform, just writing my life’s journey, my family and inspirational messages. It felt so nice doing what I love most every night after my office work. I used a pen name for writing to separate my corporate to my virtual life. I became Race in my online world and started writing in Race Corner, my first ever blog where I shared my life, my family and everything about home. Then I was inspired to create my second blog, A Beautiful Life, a blog where I shared Christian thoughts and messages to inspire my readers about the beauty of life through faith in God.

During my first three months of blogging I began dreaming of having my own personal domain and started this blog, Moments of My Life, where I fully embraced my online world and blogging. I thought that I could do more, inspire more, share more and influence more by writing real talk about daily moments of my life as a working mom.

Blogging has totally transformed my life because I became a real writer and began earning extra bucks as well. I want to share a glimpse of my first post on this blog sharing a picture of my beautiful family and also the moment that I finally bought my personal domain, my own name actually which gave me so much excitement.

Online writing has made a way for me to use every skill I have to maintain my blog sites because it’s not enough that you have good writing ideas as you also need to use computer and photography skills for images on your post. You should also know how to drive visitors and readers to your sites. Blog sites should have frequent visitors on their sites to maintain the blog’s rank.

On early days of blogging we have Entrecard and EC drop, I know most bloggers in the last decade knows this, where we visit each other and drop our entrecard in the form of customized widget. It’s one way of strengthening our Alexa ranks and in the process we got to meet online friends from all over the world. Most of them became really close friends until now. It was really fun and engaging but time consuming as well because you have to open hundred sites to support others and have your own fair share of visitors.

We have other ways of building readership like tagging and exchanging links where your link will be placed on other blogs and vice versa. We also have plenty of blog meme where you answer questions and tag your friend to post in her own blog and pass to other bloggers. This meme also serve as personal filler posts in between paid posts.

When your blogs have established visitors and increased page domain authority, page rank and Alexa you can apply for opportunities on various paid blogging sites and finally be able to monetize your blog. I created various blogs for different niches; business, home, technology, shopping, health and learn about SEO as well.

Compensation is really great, you just need to write reviews on products or write articles about certain topics. Payment depends on the number of words, links to attach, page authority and page rank. Some of my blogs got PR3 and PR2 but others only reached PR1. We're always excited for the regular updates of page ranks as if it’s our life. When I think of those times it was like a roller coaster ride for our blogs.

In my 14 years of blogging I experienced low peaks in blogging but I find it hard to stop writing because it has become part of my life. In the past few years blogging has decreased popularity but it evolved in some ways as sharing on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest became a trend for added exposure. It also paved the way for the Influencers spotlight or what we called Vlogging which actually started more than a decade but really became very popular for several years now.

We have social media pages where Influencers can post their unique content like FB pages, Youtube, Tiktok, Instagrams, Tweets and related social pages. People are excited and always waiting for new contents. I’m also a fan of Vloggers with cooking and baking channels and I follow them religiously. I also love channels on home design and DIY.

The creativity of the content together with the talent of the Vlogger  to reach out the curiosity of the viewers pave the way for the Influencers’ success in their own chosen channels of Vlogging. This has brought some hope for me that my blogging journey will still be worth counting.

Changing Website Templates

I’ve been using the same template for years now and much as I love my template because it’s easy to use and very flexible I want some changes in my site. I’ve been looking at free premium website template to use on my blog site and I’m amazed at how some designers could come up with elegant and stylish designs. I’m actually searching for template designs for my upcoming blogs on travel and health niches. Well it will take some time to change template because I also need to tinker with additional designs. Maybe when my part-time schedule will start I will have time for all the things I want to do with blog sites and for writing my articles too.

Online Work Schedule

I woke up very early to do my online tasks this morning as I will not have time to do it elsewhere in the whole course of the day. If I want to continue earning online I should be able to sacrifice either staying late at night or waking up very early at dawn. I’m just glad that my girls will resume classes on Monday because if not I will be cooking for them very early too so I will be able to submit my work on time.

Now I’m thinking of the best schedule to do my blogging in the next couple of weeks because all classes will be regular by then. I’m more productive at night but can think plenty of ideas at dawn, which is which?

Busy Schedule Tomorrow

It’s almost midnight but I’m still awake and blogging as I’m finishing my tasks which will be due up to Sunday. I’ll have to be free with online and offline tasks because I’m going to buy my laptop tomorrow morning and in the afternoon Redge and I will have an ocular inspection of the resort that we found just right for the celebration of my Mom’s birthday. It will be a busy weekend for me but I’m so excited! Finally I'm going to have my own lappy! yahoo!

My 3rd Blog Anniversary

I had my 3rd year blogversary the other day and I couldn't believe that it's been three years now that I've been sharing my life and thoughts online. I remember not signing up to friendster or any kind of online account except email because I was afraid my privacy would be invaded. It was on that late summer afternoon last April 28, 2007 when I begun entering the exciting world of blogging.

My first blog Race Corner is a free-hosted one and still running up to now though not as active as my domain blogs. I kept it the way it was to preserve my memory of how simple blogging was. Now it's more complicated and advanced.I may say also that paid opportunities are much harder to grab and requirements are greater but I still love it, love every task that comes my way which reminds me always that God has provided me a way of working at home to be with my family. I had the courage to leave my regular stable job because I found my best job online. Well it's only a bonus as sharing your thoughts and meeting friends online is also one of the most satisfying hobbies.

A Kind of Anti-Stress To Me

How I would like to take a vacation by the beach but I still have busy schedule and tons of work. I have to work out my busy schedule before I can go on with my vacation plans. It doesn’t have to a grand vacation as I only want to take some rest after a 10-month circus with house chores, school activities and online works. Actually if I have an acer netbooks with me on my vacation and a prepaid broadband I can still update my blog and read emails while I’m somewhere vacationing.

I don’t mind reading emails and doing some blogging while on vacation because blogging doesn’t stress me. On the contrary it’s a form of anti-stress to me because when I’m online I can do anything, I can hear music, watch videos and movies, visit favorite sites and communicate with friends. I don’t have to get in touch with my family because my vacation would certainly include them :-)

Some Relevance

My printer is down and I need a scanner because one client needs my signature on the agreement emailed back to them. I was heading for my friend’s internet café when my cousin offered her pc, printer and scanner to me. I was relieved that I will just cross the street and walk some meters instead of going to another town. Anyway I don’t want to go there in my friend’s shop and just stay for a little time. When I go to Bes’ place I want to stay just a little bit longer for some chikkas, fun and laughters. We’re like in high school days the only difference is that we talk of blogs instead of our subjects in math, we talk of assignments in companies that we write for instead of assignment in school. Quite some relevance don’t you think?

Recovering from Day Laziness

It’s been a lazy day for me as I haven’t finished any task in the morning and afternoon. Our late night yesterday after bible study has made me so lazy the whole day. Maybe my blogging overnights last week has affected my health and now I’m just suffering the consequences. I’m taking my headache medicine for two days now and I’m glad tonight made me feel stronger to work on my tasks. I’m happy that when I’m inspired and feeling good I can do several tasks in one or two hours only. Well I also need to work on my lazy days as I don’t want to be beating again on my deadlines.

We’ve finished dinner early in the evening at 7pm and my kids were all ready to study assignments and watch television afterwards. Just after 8:00 in the evening they’re all sleeping and I returned to my PC to recover from my lack of accomplishments the whole day. When hubby came home I was halfway my due tasks and now I’m just visiting some sites and getting ready for my sleep.

Missing My Visits

Holiday season is greatly affecting my planned schedule and I can’t help it. I’ve been away from my work for three days now. I had a memorable grand alumni reunion last Saturday where I was assigned at reception and photo booth with 3 high school friends including JennyL. We were required to be early so I decided not to do any work but to check my emails for any emergencies or important letters. I missed my blog hopping and ec dropping and I hope my visitors won’t get mad at my non-responsive blog, I just can’t fit it in my schedule. Although this work-at-home job is really giving me good compensation I can never miss special occasions like that including my Sunday fellowship service.

Today is my birthday leave so I guess I’ll just make up for my absences tomorrow because few days from now we’ll be heading for the highlands of Tagaytay and Indang, Cavite for a four-day camp fellowship service and I’m sure I’ll be missing my visits again. Well it’s a holiday and we can’t have normal schedule and activities on seasons like these. Please bear with me guys! Call it birthday present :-)

Working on Something New

I’m working on my new blog and I’m so amazed how time flies so fast, imagine it took me hours just to decide on the template, choose and fix header to match the template and decide on the blog description. After more than an hour of choosing and fixing template and header I then worked on the settings and layout including cbox, feedjit, mybloglog and many others. It’s really hard to start another blog again but what can I do? I feel like I’m bursting with ideas again and this time for a shopping, techie stuff and tips’ blog. I’m in the mood now for starting a new blog, well a different kind from my usual blogs. It’s taking my time from my online tasks and I always have to work overtime in the evening to cope with my work. I just hope it’ll be ready next week for visitors and traffic.

Fruits of Hard Work

I had quite a tight schedule for two weeks that I often do my online works late at night or until dawn. Sometimes I’ll rest for about two hours before waking up again for my kids’ breakfast and packed lunch. I’m just lucky that my face didn’t suffer from acne through consistent overnight blogging or I’ll need some acne treatment to treat them. I’m also glad that I’m not working anymore in my regular work because for sure I will not be able to cope up with online and offline tasks. At least here in my work-at-home job I will earn big if I work hard unlike the regular office works which limits your earning abilities. I’ve worked hard and did multi-tasking jobs but never earned what I think is appropriate for me. Although it’s a major decision to quit a very stable job I was glad that I’ve made my decision sooner because opportunities are flooding now.

Choosing the Best Blog Web Host

With the current times that we have now some people can’t keep up with the new trends in technology. It seems that if you don’t continue studying you’ll be left behind. Modern technology demands further education and with little ways of being smart in reading, surfing and researching. You’ll be amazed at how the kids learn easily, you teach them just now and they know it already. It also has some disadvantage as people became lazy in anything that’s manual so if the power was interrupted we feel helpless most of the time as our life revolves in high technology.

I’m a graduate of Computer Engineering several years back and even if I’m in line with the current technology I also have to study further in computer software just to keep with the newest technology or else I’ll be left behind. Anyway being a graduate of such related course made me understand it more clearly and so I was able to use it on my blogging. Blogging has been my outlet for sharing my experiences, inspirational thoughts and my online journal for my kids’ activities. It is where I open my heart and write my thoughts which were unopened in the past. Through this I was able to meet new friends and came to know some really beautiful sites that are good for reading.

If you’re a blogger you tend to improve your blog appearances and writing style so your visitors won’t get bored. You will also seek for a better host other than your usual free hosts to take care of your site. Like me after just more than one year of blogging I’ve already chosen one of the best blog web hosting company to use. I found it through friend’s recommendations and until now I was happy with my web host. It has proven its capabilities to me and I’m glad it doesn’t fail me.

For you out there who are still thinking of getting web host for your blog you can browse through top web hosting company recommended by WebHostingChoice.com which identifies each web host’ features, affordability, uptime, technical support and reliability and you’ll never get wrong.

My 2nd Year In Blogging!

It’s my second year anniversary in blogging but not in this blog but in my first ever blog in Race Corner where I first entered the world of blogging through my bestfriend JennyL. I just went into her internet café and she introduced me to blogging. Here's my first entry. I was really interested in writing but I didn’t pursue Journalism as I thought Computer Engineering will give me a better opportunity to land a good job. Writing remains my first love and signing up in a blog somehow achieved some of my dreams.

I started out in Bravejournal and went further as months passed by in Blogger where I first experienced redirecting my blog in a domain. I opened My Crossroads, another site where I talked about my work, my crossroads - the critical decisions in my life and travel to many places where we held our church camp meeting fellowship.

This blog ‘Moments of My Life’ became my main site and though I wasn’t able to update much my first blogs Race Corner and A Beautiful Life, I still love them because they’re my first babies here in the blogging world. Blogging doesn't only gives me a chance to share my thoughts and life but also helps me earn money through writing advertisement.

My Bes' Blog Mentioned In Inquirer

Bes JennyL sent me a message about how her blog was mentioned in Phil. Daily Inquirer's story about Charice Pempengco. I was a bit busy then (as always) so I just posted this only today. It was a small line only but it brought us excitement nevertheless. Here's a part of her scanned copy of the Inquirer story where her Slice of Life blog was mentioned (I just grab a part of her scanned copy from her, the complete copy is in her blog).

For complete story on this you can visit her writeup on her blog Slice of Life. Blogging really gives us not just the means to express our thoughts but be recognized and mentioned as well. Congrats Bes!

It's Redge Birthday!

It's birthday again and this time around it's my one and only sister Redge who's also a blogger now. We didn't cooked anything as our whole attention was on my Mom who's well now but still recuperating from her sickness. Mom was happy that she's regaining her appetite little by little since yesterday night. I remember Mom's specialty recipes way back years when she was strong enough to cook plenty of foods for us during special occasions like birthdays.

For Redge birthday I concentrated on her domain blog who turns 3 months old last week. Time has passed so quickly since I convinced her to share her thoughts online and be like me, a workaholic blogger. Now I don't have to convince her as she's already hooked with blogging. In fact we're ready to apply her blog now.

And look what we had for a visitor, JennyL, my bestfriend and blogging mentor. The three of us excitedly laugh, chat and exchange blogging experiences as we eat snack-dinner together with my kids. We spent late afternoon drooling on one computer only visiting various sites.

My New Blog - My Crossroads

I've been busy these past few days with my new domain blog, created through the inspiration of this personal blog about memorable journeys of my life. My new online diary 'My Crossroads' depicts much about my career, my struggle with my work and the ups and downs that I've experienced in playing my role as efficient employee, a good daughter and a responsible and loving mother to my kids and hubby, squeezing in my new-found love in cooking, baking and blogging. And through all these roles in my life I trust the Lord to help me in all my decisions and defining moments in my life.

Hope you can visit and leave some love on me at My Crossroads.

Productive Leave

I'm on leave today because of some stomach upset due to colds yesterday; I had a hard time getting a ride, spent 30 minutes each on my two rides going home, just had one of those days. I just checked my emails and assignment deadline before giving myself a rest yesterday night. I woke up feeling slight uncertain upset in my stomach; actually since I was in high school I was really prone to the smell of the soil before the raindrops. It keeps my stomach boiling but now I only have slight pain.

Anyway as I'm on my sheltered home I feel good before noon and because it's late already to prepare my things I decided to make my leave a whole day, so I found the time to do my pending assignments, good for me as I've been thinking about when can I finish it. I usually do it a night; I'm a night blogger you know! But now I'm glad that I can sleep earlier, pretty good isn't it!

This is a great chance for working and stay at home mothers to support their family’s needs through blog.
