Skills and Talent Enhancement in School

I’m glad now that my kids have lots of resting and playing time unlike school periods when they have so many assignments and activities. I remember when my daughter spent so many after school hours practicing cheer dance and school plays. I always see her almost drained out because of daily practice aside from her regular academic chores.

Her school trains them to be competent not only on academic subjects but on other fields like arts as well. They also encourage them to be proficient in music and create activities that involve instrument playing and singing. They use a very nice music system like the pro tools student that helps get the best sounding and powerful audio software. When I get to see their musical plays I was amazed by their performance.

New Keyboard for the Recital

My son is into keyboard/piano lessons and in two months’ time he’ll have his recital. He’s using our good old keyboard and he has saved enough for a new keyboard as he wants a new one to play to get ready for his recital. Just after our holiday vacation and fellowship we canvassed into some music stores nearby and we found one that my son approved of.

Well after his several school activities this week he asked me to help him visit musicans friend just in case we can afford the price because one of his music classmate told him about the store. Now we just have to wait until he decides and we’ll buy him his new keyboard even if we have to add a little more.

Preparing for the Prom Night

I’ve been so busy lately with my daughters’ JS prom at the end of this month. We’ve been searching for their prom dresses for weeks now but still they can’t find what they want. They already have a gown from their Auntie but they’re having second thoughts on the color because they prefer lighter ones. The purple and pink gown is beautiful but Gen is not as comfortable with it as it’s too dark and grand for her.

On the other hand Ruth is very choosy as at first she really wants her own-designed gown for the night. I told them that we’ll just rent a gown so they will have variety of gowns to choose from and it will be more practical than having a custom-made gown. The school practices every other year JS prom where a student will only have one prom in their high school so my two daughters will be together in this year’s prom as Gen is junior and Ruth is senior.

I’m just hoping that next week we’ll be able to look for the right prom dress for them neither too grand nor sexy but nice enough for young ladies. I don’t want a gown that will make them look very young or matured. I want them to look just about their age and simply pretty. Anyway they’re having in Glass Garden and we’re going to watch closely in the backgrounds or camp in the vicinity of the garden to ensure our girls’ safety.

I’m certain it will be fun and exciting for them with beautiful waltz and old-time music. I don’t know if they have complete musical instruments there or the likes of legere signature clarinet reeds at WWBW but I’m pretty sure they will have sweet memories of their prom night. After all they will only be passing through this period once and when they grow old they will just reminisce their memorable moments and smile at how they used to love their high school days. Music will add in the memories and recap the beauty of the night.

Sakbay and Pinning Ceremonies

Ed had his recognition, sakbay and pinning ceremonies last week March 27 at URS Morong prior to his graduation day. His Mom was there to accompany him on stage on the pinning ceremony. She came all the way from Montalban to be with his youngest son. I was there also with Ed’s cousin and we were just lucky to enter the theater arts center because some of the students don’t have their parents with them and we were paired with them. I was glad that I was able to go inside because I was able to witness the whole ceremony and had some pictures also.

I’ve experienced several ceremonies with our kids but watching Ed and his Mom on stage gave me unexplainable feeling. I observed that Ed and MIL were equally happy too. We’re all proud that after two years Ed has finished the course. Wait it’s not his graduation day, it’s only the sakbay and pinning ceremonies. I will have another post for his graduation day which is 2 days after these ceremonies.

will post some pics later :)

Party Invitations

It’s the start of the longest holiday but before that season there are occasions in between. In school there are plenty of activities on occasions such as United Nations’ Day and Halloween. Well now that Josh is in grade school already they don’t have Halloween party in their school so I’m not expecting an invitationbox.com halloween party invitations these days.

I still remember two or three years ago when I was so busy preparing for his costumes which is usually the Robin costume his cousin gave him and Spiderman costume which was offered by a Mommy friend in other school. It’s a big event in his preparatory school where they play, compete for the best costume and enjoy having various candies around. I’ve written about all these on my other sites as I have tons of pictures to share with.

Durable Shoes for Sports

Ruth will have her first foundation day in TUMCS next week and she joined her class’ volleyball team just like me when I was in high school. She recently ordered her jersey and I realized that it’s so expensive these days to have sports’ uniform. Her teacher will arrange for the name printing so parents will not think about it anymore and anyway it should be done by one sign shop only. I’m glad that she’s not asking for a new rubber shoes because her shoes is still in good condition. It’s a gift from her Auntie who lives abroad and because it’s a branded one it never wear out easily. I love searching for nice and durable rubber shoes like Nike SB or other type of shoes from them because I’m also athletic.

When it comes to sports the shoes play a vital role in keeping up with the movements and paces you need to do in playing games. This is the reason why sportsmen use quality shoes when they play because it will either be an advantage or disadvantage on their game depending upon what brand of shoes they use.

Gen's First in Basic Encoding Skills

I'm always posting this in my education blog Beyond Horizons but I'm sharing it here now. Gen was always competing in several of her academic subjects in Filipino essay, Press Conference, Math, even the sport of Chess and now in EPP skills. She has experienced getting the runner up medals and certificates but she didn't made it to No. 1 position and she longed to experience to compete for the inter-town level which they call it Division Level. Well that day she was very determined to really make it to the first place and I was there to witness her efforts. I was praying the whole time she's doing the exam and I thought it was hard for her. I was surprised when she finally declared that she's finished ahead of time. That's the time that she smiled to me and gave me our famous thumbs up sign. My kids were used to giving me that sign whenever they want to tell me everything is ok.

Their school coaches/teachers who were with them were happy when the awarding took place as they all got the first positions. They were three from their class who competed, one was for flower arrangement, the other one was for fabric painting and Gen for basic encoding skills. They all went home happy that they bagged the first place and will all compete with the contestants from all towns in Rizal Province. Of course I was a happy Mom and I thanked God for giving Gen the wisdom.

:Thursday Challenge : School

"SCHOOL" (Buildings, Children, Uniforms, Buses, Bicycles, Books, Pens and Pencils,..)

These are my kids' school things - notebooks, pens, pencils, bags and other accessories bought from the book store last May for the school opening last June of this year.  Children get very excited when it comes to shopping for their school things.  Since my kids are big enough to have their own choices I let them pick what they want.  I only guide my little boy because he's just a first grader now but I know when he grows old he would be able to get and choose his school things.  Btw the bag is my choice and Josh loves it!

Tired from School Conference

I was tired from watching over Gen who participated in the District School Conference about Journalism. It was a competition for writing about different aspects of journalism including news, feature, editorial, sports, copy reading, headline writing, photo journalism and many others. Actually I was only there to bring my daughter’s lunch but I suddenly got lazy going home alone and besides some of my Mom friends were there so I stayed awhile which took me until the end of the program. They were being taught about the different aspects of writing before they will be given a certain amount of time to do their write ups. I enjoy the lecture because some of the tips and guides can also be applied in my online writing job. I was knocked down after reaching home and had the energy to work late in the evening.

His First Regular Flag Ceremony

He likes being photographed here :-) Funny kid!

It's kinda late but I just want to share Josh excitement over his first flag ceremony on the second day of his schooling. He had flag ceremonies when he was in preparatory school but on programs and occasions only. Prep students don't have daily flag ceremony and they study only for 2-3 hours a day so this new activity for Josh every morning gave him additional exciting things to do. Lately he told me that he got tired after the little exercises in their flag ceremony but he smiled when he demonstrated their exercises. Really this little kid is so funny and I noticed that he's gaining lots of friends already.

I was lucky to get a small nook behind one steel post because I got shy doing the snapshots, glad they didn't noticed my cam :-) camera flash was off!

Early for the PTA Meeting This Time

I had a complete sleep last night and I feel rested and refreshed. I woke up early and cooked breakfast and packed lunch for my kids as always and the two younger kids commented on the yummy burger patties I made myself. Gen told me that we’ll have a parent-teacher meeting this afternoon and I shouldn’t be late as requested by her teacher. Good thing I don’t need an eye cream to hide my eye bags because it’s not visible today, thanks to my 8-hour sleep yesterday night.

I’m actually expecting a PTA meeting a week ago because I got used to their schedule yearly that on the first or second Friday after the opening of classes they will held an orientation meeting. I remember myself juggling between my work and my kids’ school activities back then because I was still working. I had to wait for a perfect timing to ask permission from my boss to leave the office after lunch. Sometimes he’ll agree to my request too late to get to school on time. My half-day leave will turn into an under time because I’ll be off my work at 3pm which left me only 30 minutes to travel from work to my kids’ school which is a one-hour travel.

Well this time I promised Gen that I won’t be late because I don’t have a boss to ask permission from. It’s also my first time to attend meeting in their school without dividing my time between Gen and Ruth’s class because they were in the same school before. Ruth is in high school now and we already had an orientation meeting in her school two Fridays ago. I’m more relaxed now.

:WW- Ruth's Graduation

My eldest kid is now moving up to secondary school and I'm posting her graduation pics here! She graduated from primary school last April 5 after the holy week and I had a very busy schedule so I'm just posting it now. Just look at our picture together, looks like another year or so and she'll be taller than me. She really grow up fast and I just wish that even if she looks like a young lady now she's still my Baby Ruth. I'm going to enroll her in a Christian School and I hope that she'll be more guided there and I asked her to be more focused in her studies now. She didn't get an honor but she has high grades on all her subjects. God Bless and guide her on her next endeavor.

Forgive me for being wordful again, I forgot it's for wordless wednesday. Click the badge for more entries!

:BM/RT: Gen's Recognition Day

I'm posting here my dear daughter's recognition ceremony. Gen has been so focused and devoted on her goals of returning to the top five of her class having lost it last year and been included only in the top ten of the class. She's a consistent honor since her preparatory school and last year's failure to be at the top five didn't put her down but instead gave her inspiration to study and persevere more.

On the last week of March all her efforts has been rewarded because she got the 4th place in her grade 5 section 1 class of more than 50 students. I'm proud of her not being on the top five but of her dedication and positive attitude that she can make it again to come back in her former place. I'm very happy and proud of her. God helped her achieve her goals.

Sharing her photos here:

Josh' Moving Up Ceremony

MellowYellowBadge
Before the Ceremony
With Dear Tita Mama
With DaddyWith Me
With Teacher Joan
Align Center With Friends With Lola DearJosh graduated from preparatory school last Monday the 22nd day of March and we're all excited about his last moving up ceremony as preparatory student. He's going to move up to primary schooling next school year and the whole family is all giddy about it. I had tons of pics (as always) and I just picked some for this site. I'll be posting some on my other blogs.

For this year he got the 2nd place, the Best in Reading award and that makes it three in a row. On his nursery he got the 2nd place also and last year in his kinder class he got the 1st place making him the class valedictorian. He also have a Loyalty Award because he's been in St. Audrey since nursery. This is the first time that he didn't have a piece to speak as in the last two years he's the one who delivers the speech for the giving of certificates to the honors. The speech was in Filipino language and I think it's more appealing to the graduates and parents. My opinion only of course!

As always St. Audrey is on time with the graduation ceremony finishing it before the kids gets tired much to my relief! We started at 8:30 am and before 10am we've finished with the photo shoot. We headed to our house to pick Mom and ate at Josh' fave KFC. At lunch time we brought packed foods to Ruth & Gen.

Discounted Leather Shoes

My sister and I went to SM with my two girls to buy them shoes for recognition and graduation. I wanted branded leather black shoes for them because I want their shoes to last a long time. I went to the brand I like because I know their materials used for shoes are of quality standards and can withstand the wearer’s activities everyday. I was happy that we were able to avail of 50% discount on Qibi shoes and I got lot of savings for my budget money for them. Hope I can also get the mbt shoes on sale items now especially the Geox Kid’s shoes. I like the color and style of coffee/orange leather for the little boy even if I just bought him an MM rubber shoes yesterday.

Anyway I’m getting more relaxed as I’ve finally bought the things I need for the graduation of my two kids and eventually I’ll have some time to buy a special blouse for myself. Lately I’ve been staying at the house more often because of the good season in my online job and as such I can’t shop for the things I need. I just rely on my sister to do some shopping for me. I’m lucky to have a sister like her.

Fully-Booked Schedule

I have plenty of scheduled activities tomorrow concerning the school of my kids. I have PTA Officers meeting and another meeting with graduation committee. Janet gave me the list of people to write letter to complete the necessary documents for the venue and the program. I have to make 3 letters for the administrative officer of the village we’re renting the venue from, another letter informing the Superintendent of our chosen venue for graduation and the last one for the high school principal where we will be hiring cadets for the graduation ceremony.

I have to remind myself that I also need to get some cardboard display quotation just in case we’ll need some. Janet and I are lucky to have each other always as a team because she’s the president of the graduation committee and I’m the secretary. As always I’ll have to do all documentations but its fine as long as I’m only in the background, I’m good at being an assistant.

Girl Scouting at SM City

Ruth and Gen went to SM city in Marikina last Nov. 28 with their schoolmates and teachers alone without me (their stage Mom). It's the first time that they went to an outdoor activity without me. I planned to follow them but I can't leave Josh who has a slight fever then. Yes that's the reason they attended their GS activity outside school without me. I felt uncomfortable and slightly worried and it seems that it's me who only felt that way as my girls Ruth and Gen enjoyed their activity and strolled in the mall with their teachers behind.

We' re supposed to have lunch there but Josh can't make it so I just stayed with him. I'm relieved that they brought a mobile phone with them so I've monitored their whereabouts. I was glad to lend my mobile phone to Ruth as I had chances of calling them and instructing them what to do. I made sure that I know the teachers who were with them for safety purposes. They arrived home safely and I’m relieved!

:PH#186 : Music

This is Josh and his classmates imitating the looks of Freddie Aguilar and singing Freddie's 'Ako'y Isang Pinoy' in their school celebration of Linggo ng Wika last August. The program presented different Filipino costumes and traditions, songs and dances. Btw they didn't want to wear long hair wig just like Freddie's hair, they say it irritates their head skin lol! Aren't they cute?

:Thursday Challenge - "Cloths"

"CLOTHS" (Colorful, Unusually, Fashionable, Komonos, Sari, Suits,...)

This is my entry for this week's theme 'Cloth'. These are Josh' schoolmates in St. Audry Learning Center wearing Philippine Kimona and Saya (skirt) on their dance carrying different tropical fruits. This dance is one of the many featured participation of each class in celebration for the yearly 'Linggo ng Wika' (Week of Filipino Language) where Philippine traditions, costume or cloths, dances and literature were presented. Don't they look pretty!

:WW - Spiderman Loves Ice Cream!

Sneaking in the corner with spiderweb behind him

Finally got tired of hiding in the corner & sat at the bench

Did you know that Spiderman loves to eat ice cream? Of course he's also human and so is his imitator here - my son Josh who loves ice cream to the max! He's lucky that he can now eat ice cream after his sickness last week.

He sports Spiderman costume here in St. Audry's Costume/Halloween Party. He's very excited since Monday and when a friend brought me this costume we had it repaired and fitted to him in about two hours. He has other costume in his cabinet but he wants to wear a different one this year, we just lend the costume to other kids because nowadays it's very expensive to buy a new costume which you will only use for one day. Anyway Josh also uses his super heroes costume when he's playing.

Happy wordless though I'm wordfull! visit more entries here.
