Summer Recreation

The kids are enjoying their summer vacation even on a hot weather like this. They’re alternately studying and practicing piano lessons, having online activities for recreation and playing board games. The little boy is asking where can we find yoyo store that will give him enough choices for his preferred style. He loves playing it with his elder sister and told me that he wants to learn exhibition styles. He has collection of some sorts but those are just simple styles I bought from various stores I dropped by on my way going home. They’re not branded and not expensive so I want to give him some stylish and quality yoyo for his collection.

Wishing for Rain This Summer

The nature hasn’t been good these past few days with successive earthquakes, tsunami warnings and many other natural disasters. Who would have thought that earthquakes can be that bad on Haiti and Chile. I thought that earthquake way back 90’s in Baguio City was the mightiest I’ll ever see. Those other earthquakes happened before I was born so the only living memory I had was that of the 90’s earthquake.

Well even without those extreme disasters we’re already down with big floods last year, El Niño at the present and Meralco rate increase this month. Imagine after the killer floods we’re now facing low water level in the same dams that let out too much water in Metro Manila and nearby towns. My neighbor told me to buy stainless steel drums so we can stack enough water if there will be water supply interruption also. My neighbor dreads power and water interruption so he’s preparing for all the things that might come up with this near drought situation in many farmlands in the provinces. I was amazed with the one who invented artificial rain which helps nourish the dry farmlands temporarily. I heard over the news that million-worth of crops were affected by El Niño and if this continues we’ll have shortage of rice all over the country. I just hope and pray that there will be rain this summer.

Comfort and Ease of Using Ceiling Fans

It’s very hot and humid today so I chose to stay inside the house. I intend to go to SSS to update my employment status from employed to self-employed. But I finished my work at 5am early this morning and when I woke up at 7:30 pm I feel really lazy to go out. My kids wouldn’t let the fan be turned off and every area in the house should at least have its own fan. I surmised that it would be more comfortable to have ceiling fans in the living and dining room for more ease and comfort. It will not occupy extra space and it won’t be blocking any space. I should get quotations from DH’s company store so I can figure out the size, style and features. I reckon it would be a longer summer season that we’ll be expecting since it started this March and will probably end before the month of June.

Early Summer Heat

With the sun’s scorching heat damaging our skin everyday I have no choice but to lessen going out in the middle of the day except for the important things that can’t be missed. Since summer has come so early bringing us the high temperature during the day I told my kids to stay out of the sun in school on their breaks. It might bring some rashes and allergy on their skin when they exposed themselves.

There are lots of skin disorders that may occur when we exposed ourselves without protection. I won’t be surprised if one day my little boy will be asking for allergy relief because sometimes he’ll run into our backyard and play. He’ll stop when I caught him and he just love the catching game especially when it’s me and him playing lol! He’s really a handful at times! And I love him so much!

Summer Coolers

It’s summer once again and everyone is planning about some vacation here and abroad. What’s good about this season are the foods that are available everywhere you go, you can see various stalls and mini stores that offers coolers like ice cream, fruit shakes, banana con ice, mais con ice and the most famous of all the halo-halo. These coolers are the most sought-after thirst quenchers this time of the year but did you know that it also carries a lot of calories?

I felt that during my two weeks stay in the house eating snack like these slowly adds up some pounds in my belly. I should be thinking about some hard exercise to get rid of my excess pounds or I might be overweight by the end of this summer. Some of my friends who can’t resist eating these foods turn to diet pills that help them eliminate unwanted pounds. I still have to consult my doctor if it’s safe for me to take these pills, for now I should be disciplining myself on proper diet and exercise.

Summer Moments

My family was so fond of swimming and we never really miss summer moments on a pool or beach resort. I remember when my first child was only 9 months old and we visited Dingalan beach in Nueva Ecija near Aurora Province. We had a tough road and travel going there but it’s worth the effort because the beach there has very nice waves and clear water. My sister-in-law gave some nice cute swimsuits to my baby girl but we never really tried to get her into the seawater for fear of strong uncontrollable waves. She just stayed at the beachfront and watched others swim with the waves.

Relaxing Day

Quite having a nice relaxed day with my kids and because it's summer vacation I uploaded many educational and fun-filled games for them without using internet. Some online games have many risks of popup ads and they might accidentally click one of those. I've particularly chosen games for my youngest kid, those games which are easy to play and the theme is very applicable to young kids. After uploading the games I tested it and was quite happy to have played my favorite word games such as scrabble and text twist with my daughters. I recommend these word games as these are very educational and good for learning words. As a kid I played these games on board (not on computer lol) with my sister, brother and friends. In playing these games we would carry a two-volume dictionary to rule out words that seems not included in the webster. The dictionary serves as judge to debating players hahaha! as if we're serious huh! The best part of the game was when my Mom would call us to eat her cooked merienda which was always accompanied by delicious cold drinks, oh well nice remembering those summer days! Life was different those days; most kids were at home playing or doing their things in their houses unlike these days where children were hooked on network gaming, arcades and internet cafes.
