Expensive Cab

We didn’t use our car yesterday as our driveway was blocked by the ongoing drainage construction. The job was already a big delay and I wished they’ll finish it this week so our car can pass by the newly constructed drainage pavement. I find it very expensive to hire a cab as sometimes their meter has what they call it ‘batingting’ which means the meter’s reading is not right and much higher than the real reading. It’s been the habit of some taxi drivers and sometimes they don’t want to use their meter they want to charge a contracted amount which is always higher than what you will consume. I hope that drainage construction will be over soon so we can use our own car again.

Risky Jobs

I was waiting for my hubby to arrive and been writing some posts manually on some pieces of paper for my blog when I heard group of construction boys clearing dump demolished materials in front of our house. I was glad that they’re doing it because it’s been 5 days since they’ve demolished our walls and gates and mess was on the front of our house causing us to build our own paths to walk going out of our compound making me think that this road widening is really giving us some headache. Contractors who worked for this project is so slow that our damaged properties can’t be restored as soon as possible.

I’ve talked to one of the workers and found out that their daily pay is 230 pesos only, I was stunned as I’ve seen them working and there’s a day or two that they’ve been smashing the concrete walls the whole day. That’s really a hard job and what they get from it? Only that amount? Is this what happens on a country suffering from economic crisis?

I gave all 5 of them strong hot coffee and they’ve been very happy with it because it’s past midnight already and their bodies are a little bit cold already from a hard day and night’s work. Construction is a very hard and risky job. And you know why I said that? While the construction boys were clearing all materials with use of backhoe equipment the boy who was in-charge of sending signals to other cars if they should stop was accidentally hit by their own backhoe equipment. Reason is that they don’t have enough light in the vicinity and in the truck that the driver miscalculated his maneuvering, poor fellow! He was rushed immediately to the nearby Takano Medical Center. I can’t forget the boy who I think was around 17-19 years old only facing the risks of the job just to earn meager income for his family. I admire their perseverance.

Home Theater Seating

As born-again Christians we don’t watch movies in theaters even if the movie is good and for general patronage. We just confined ourselves in the comfort of our homes and watch movies in DVD player. My church friends who want to see movies in real big picture must have a television that’s big enough to make watching movies at home seems like real theater. I’ve known friends who invests a lot in entertainment furniture such as wide screen television as big as 100 inches and setting up a nice home theater seating to go with it. You would really think you’re in a cinema or theater if you’re inside the room. It’s really awesome!

Ruth's Practice

My eldest daughter was chosen together with five other classmates to practice poem reading to compete for inter-school competition on the 29th of this month so even if it’s my day off today I woke up early to cook for Ruth, I also packed lunch for her too. It’s ok but sometimes I really don’t like when my kids have schooling on Saturdays because it’s the only time that they can rest for the whole day from studying and most often we spent Saturdays going to markets and groceries which they love so much. Oh well it’s just Gen, Josh and me who went to Robinsons this Saturday as we can’t wait for Ruth who will be available later in the afternoon. We’ll just buy her some pasalubong and will cook her favorite popcorn once she gets home.

Teenage Worries

My niece is fast growing as a tall young lady and just like her mom she’s also pretty with expressive chinky eyes. She was named after me with just another name added as today’s children were given two names to make their characters look more defined. Anyway as we were talking over the phone she mentioned that she’s getting worried that she’s entering adolescence period and might get acne. I told her that there are factors on having acne problems. Some inherits it from their parents’ genes and others from wrong hygiene.

I advised her to clear her face from dirt and if it occurs there are treatments available in the market. Osang's Birthday

Another birthday luncheon again and this time it's Osang. Actually her birthday was really last September 11 but she was in Cebu then attending the ACC conference for telcos. She requested Art to cook pork liempo for her yesterday and brought her turbo. She cooked spaghetti, chicken lollipop and lumpiang shanghai to go with pork liempo. Cakes flooded the table as we have chocolate and ube cake from Red Ribbon and mercedes de brazo.

As we're only around 15 in the office wuthout the technical staff who were assigned in some place the food was more than enough for us. Again it's a yummy lunch for all of us. Happy birthday Osang!

Pork Barbeque in Sauce

It’s Wednesday and again I have to cook everything from breakfast to dinner as hubby and me will be on our midweek bible study and will be coming home just before midnight. For a fast and quick menu I’ve chosen to cook pork with soy sauce. I just boiled the pork to perfect tenderness slowly adding soy sauce and barbeque spices to have that delicious taste that my kids wanted so much. When I finished cooking my menu I noticed that it’s very yummy to look but also a threat to weight watchers because the pork’s oil has slowly mixed up with the soy sauce. Oh well as for me I really love to eat and on times like these fat burner will be a lot of help to lessen the cholesterol and fat gained from eating yummy but a little sinful food like this one.
