Plans on Spending Kids' School Vacation Time

Summer vacation has started for the kids since the school officially ends the school year. My little boy often calls me in the office not just to say he misses me but to ask also what can he do with his free hours. My kid is thinking of home activities that he can spend his time. When he's tired from watching his favorite cable shows he plays online games but those are not enough for his morning and afternoon time. We told him to eat and sleep a lot so he can grow quickly but it's not enough either. 

Now it's part of my problem too and I'm now planning a writing workshop for them all so they can practice doing something of a journal of their experiences in their school. I will buy them a journal notebook or a large notepad for their daily journal which I will check upon reaching home. That way I can help them improve their writing skills and fill up their spare time. 

I heard my friend have the same idea but since her kids are already in college she suggested to start a small business for this summer. She's thinking of online printing business just like workflow printing but on small scale level only so her daughters and sons will not just earn but enjoy as well. Parents wouldn't want to spoil their children's vacation but just creative enough to teach them how to spend vacation wisely. Of course family vacation, swimming and picnics would always be first priority.

Music Home Lessons on Summer Vacation

Days are getting as relaxing as the kids are just completing their projects and clearances before their summer school break next month. Summer is one of the seasons that I love best because it’s the only time that we get to bond almost every day. Since the kids are free from school activities and lessons they have time not just to relax and play but be with us everywhere we go. It’s very important to us because we go to many places and if the kids are not with us we feel some emptiness and it’s that enjoyable without them. 

As the kids have plenty of time to do whatever they want I’m thinking of best activity for them to do like what they did in the past summer vacations. I saw Gen browsing through Fender Precision Bass and some acoustic guitars and I’m certain she’s wishing for a new one since her guitar got a crack from accident falling. Now I’m planning to enhance her skills in guitar playing and searching through my friends’ references of music tutor for her and her siblings. I know she will love the idea and will excite her to be more skilled. Anyway it will only take maybe 2 hours a day so it will not deprive her of enjoying her school vacation.

Planning and Building Additional Floor

I was asked by my MIL to do some simple drawing of floor plan for their other house which they plan to renovate this month. They’re working on the foundation now for a stronger slab for the second floor. As they will need to save the allotted money they skipped the professional plan and the whole family will just build it according to their skills. Anyway they have knowledge in building houses so for now they would only need one professional carpenter to lead the work force. 

Planning and budgeting are two main factors for them to achieve their goal of building additional floor without overspending their finances and I was asked to do the plan so they can show it to my SIL who finances the construction. She wanted to be assured that they’re doing right hence she requested for a floor plan. If the floor plan serves as a guide for building houses so is the boss flanger for balancing amplified sound for guitarists and bassists. Music is beautiful but if not equipped with the best and quality equipment and instruments it will not be able to give its best. Amplifiers should be able to give clear sound of what the musical instrument produces and it should amplify it as well. Hope we could get quality instruments for our church use and may the clear sounds amplify our praising.

When you have several kids at home keeping it neat and tidy is such a tiring job. I’m sure many of us can relate to what I’m saying especially those whose kids are still toddlers and will not be able to arrange their own things. I have three kids and it’s always a job for me to keep their things organized and accessible at all times especially my little boy’s toys and small accessories. Well I’ve bought some plastic cabinets with several drawers and that kept their things somewhat tidy and neat to look at. Still their clothes, school things, accessories and toys are a lot to keep and organize and I’m searching for creative ideas on how to do it stylishly without looking messy. 

With this in my mind it’s good to see home inspirations where chest of drawers is made under the stairs. Well the area under the stairs are usually left to stock room or sometimes just empty space only so it’s a welcome to do this when you run out of storage for your kids’ things. If you have 3 or more kids you can name each step as their drawer and teach them how to organize their goods and things according to frequency of usage. This way they can find what they need easily and without too much effort. You can see sample of how you can do it on your own. Be creative.

Home Ready for the Drum Set

We’re planning to buy the old drum set in our church when the new replacement drum set arrives but we’re not quite sure where to place it just in case because it will eat up a lot of space. Also our house is not that beautiful and rather old but it’s so huge that adding big instruments wouldn’t hurt so much. Josh has been enrolled in a summer music schooling where he studied and learned the basic of playing the real drum set. And now I think that the old instrument would do well for his small talent and hopefully he’ll be as good as our present Instrumentalist.

I’m not so sure about when will we get it and I wonder if we should get him classic drum key as well. Maybe after two or three years he’ll be qualified and can decide for himself. Just smiling to myself now why I get so excited over my son’s musical training and future in preparing to be one of the Instrumentalists in our church. Well this is the usual life of a stage Mom.

Preparing for the Prom Night

I’ve been so busy lately with my daughters’ JS prom at the end of this month. We’ve been searching for their prom dresses for weeks now but still they can’t find what they want. They already have a gown from their Auntie but they’re having second thoughts on the color because they prefer lighter ones. The purple and pink gown is beautiful but Gen is not as comfortable with it as it’s too dark and grand for her. 

On the other hand Ruth is very choosy as at first she really wants her own-designed gown for the night. I told them that we’ll just rent a gown so they will have variety of gowns to choose from and it will be more practical than having a custom-made gown. The school practices every other year JS prom where a student will only have one prom in their high school so my two daughters will be together in this year’s prom as Gen is junior and Ruth is senior. 

I’m just hoping that next week we’ll be able to look for the right prom dress for them neither too grand nor sexy but nice enough for young ladies. I don’t want a gown that will make them look very young or matured. I want them to look just about their age and simply pretty. Anyway they’re having in Glass Garden and we’re going to watch closely in the backgrounds or camp in the vicinity of the garden to ensure our girls’ safety. 

I’m certain it will be fun and exciting for them with beautiful waltz and old-time music. I don’t know if they have complete musical instruments there or the likes of legere signature clarinet reeds at WWBW but I’m pretty sure they will have sweet memories of their prom night. After all they will only be passing through this period once and when they grow old they will just reminisce their memorable moments and smile at how they used to love their high school days. Music will add in the memories and recap the beauty of the night.
