Food Plan for Mom's Birthday

Woke up early to plan for Mom's birthday today, not a big one because we want a quiet and simple birthday unlike her last year's birthday in Bosay Resort where a group of our hometown people in Laguna attended also. We brought two vehicles then and both were jammed with passengers, no overloading because some of them were kids.

I'm the eldest daughter so I have to take care of everything - from planning the food, buying them all and cooking. Glad I love cooking so every time there's a family occasion I'm the one in-charge but of course always supervised by my own dear mom who's the expert in all :-). Her friends keep on telling her always that I took after her- her cooking and some characteristics, not her face 'coz she's prettier than me lol! Will be busy the whole day so no more blogging for this day - call it a blogging dayoff!

Warm Buddy

It was a lazy afternoon with rain threatening to burst anytime. I was the last to leave the office at past 6pm before the CSR night-duty. Was having some calls and reading some text messages from sis-in-law to email another sis-in-law when I saw from the glass window of our building that rain started to fall. Seeing from the glass it wasn't so threatening but when I saw it outside I nearly backed out, glad I brought my jacket with me and of course my small umbrella. I'm like that I can't brave the rain without my constant companion AND MY WARM BUDDY-my jacket, I can do it without an umbrella though as long as I have something to cover my back because I easily chill.

Graceful Escape

Had a bad night’s sleep due to severe backache, no worry with office work as I’ve already filed my leave as I’ve enrolled my kids in the morning. Afternoon Sharing

It was raining hard this afternoon, the cool breeze after the rain makes it more satisfying to spend the afternoon in the church hearing our Pastor’s continuation of his message “I Will Restore”. It’s the third part and I’m not sure if he will finally complete the message as he explicitly explained every bit and pieces of this very special message. It’s about reviving and restoring our faith to our Father. The best part of this message is when Pastor connects God’s word to our everyday living illustrating type and shadow, best way in relating it to our own lives. As they say the true measure of a true Christian is constantly weigh on how we deal with our lives outside the church. As this world is like a battle field of good and bad.

Savings Account

Even if I and my husband both work in an office we find it hard to save money in the bank, the present economy of this country is really taking us all deeper financially. Actually I can say that we’re lucky enough to have stable job that’s supported our family’s needs for more than a decade. Yes we’ve been in our respective jobs for more than 15 years and we’re still on it.

I’ve been thinking about my children’s schooling and since in about two years they will be entering secondary schools I’m planning to save money for their education. And to be sure that money will be safe in the bank I’ll be opening savings accounts in their name. Air Tools

We’ve hired a carpenter today to do some home repair in our house. Because we’re all working in an office we can’t find the time to go over all repair works needed, we can’t even allot time to schedule repairman. As the carpenter started with his work I noticed that he’s brought all his tools for his two-day work in our house. I remember asking him yesterday if he could bring his air tools so he can do all work needed to fix everything in the house because air tools can really do incredible works around your home and even in your shop too.

Drying Up Clothes

I've been looking at my laundry and thinking if I could probably hang it outside but been hesitant because it's been raining all days this week. It's good that nowadays we have spin dryers to help us dry our clothes even on rainy season but these kind doesn't really dry up to the maximum level. Spin dryers just spin the clothes up to the extent that all water are squeezed out but you have to it hang for about few hours without the sun or one hour with the sun to get the driest level of clothes. It's nice to hang it outside where the sun can reach it but you'll have to watch it carefully because if the rain comes you'll be sorry. I decided to let the sun shines on my laundry because I saw that we have a nice weather today! Good for me!

Carpenter Friend

Mom asked a long-time all-around carpenter and repairman family friend of ours, Bro. Ver who always help us fix things in almost every corner of the house. BT&T Dinner

All ADB-assigned staff and some of us in head office had a company dinner in Pier One in Julio Vargas replacing yearly company outing. Main office staff had their swimming in Pansol, Calamba two weeks ago which I didn't attend because it's too far for me and I'll be away from my kids for one night and one morning. Berry arranged for everything and she asked Osang and me to accompany her to our chosen venue, the same resto where we had our company dinner last year for which all BT&T employees had attended.

Do I Look Like Mom?

We’ve arrived so late last night from our bible study that Josh was in deep sleep when we finally arrived. He usually wakes up at night just in time for the arrival of her daddy but since he’s played the whole day he’s in deep slumber. I was looking at his face and begin to smile as his face is becoming like his daddy. Since he was a baby everyone’s telling him that he looked like me; his eyes, cheeks and lips. He used to have a shirt which says “If you think I’m cute you should see my mommy” and if anyone joking him would replace the last word with other names he would correct it with the word ‘mommy’. He would always tease his daddy and ask “do I look like my mom?’ then his daddy would reply yes because if not he will make face lol!

Now his face is becoming like his daddy as his eyes are starting to have that deep-set features and the color of his skin is darker. I would always tell Josh that his nose is also growing nicer.

Exam Gloves

I’ve visited a friend who recently delivered a bouncing baby boy. The hospital nurses were so careful in handling the baby when it’s time for their bath; I’m really amazed at their expertise in bathing newly born babies. They seem so fragile and very soft to touch that a single mistake in handling them would be frightening. But I don’t worry much if they’re being handled by the expert midwives in the nursery; after all they really know all things about handling pregnant women and babies.

Actually all hospital personnel especially nurses and doctor were trained to be careful in many things especially in examining patients, they never forget wearing exam gloves in treating patient. It’s a kind of protection from germs transmission both to the patient and hospital attendants. They use different kinds of gloves for specific needs.

Getting Ready for BS

Pastor and his family informed me through text that they're on their way to my office. They always drop by my office to give me a ride to our weekly wednesday bible study, it was a habit they obliged themselves to do for me to arrive in our church earlier. I really appreciate their kind gesture, I can never find such a humble and thoughtful pastor who's like a father to me also. With him are his daughter, son and his wife Ninang Remy (sponsor to our wedding). Oh how I'd love it when Wednesdays and Sundays come because it's our fellowship days, the time that we sing our songs to the Lord, give our praises and worship Him. I always look forward to these two special days.

Productive Leave

I'm on leave today because of some stomach upset due to colds yesterday; I had a hard time getting a ride, spent 30 minutes each on my two rides going home, just had one of those days. I just checked my emails and assignment deadline before giving myself a rest yesterday night. I woke up feeling slight uncertain upset in my stomach; actually since I was in high school I was really prone to the smell of the soil before the raindrops. It keeps my stomach boiling but now I only have slight pain.

Anyway as I'm on my sheltered home I feel good before noon and because it's late already to prepare my things I decided to make my leave a whole day, so I found the time to do my pending assignments, good for me as I've been thinking about when can I finish it. I usually do it a night; I'm a night blogger you know! But now I'm glad that I can sleep earlier, pretty good isn't it!

Have visited my brother’s project site, he’s an engineer contractor who’s into building houses and buildings. I’m really fascinated with the new technology in house improvement and building. Cravings

Showers of rain are starting to fall and it's getting cold but still I'm craving for an ice cream, yes I love eating ice cream when I'm blogging even if a little disturbing on my part. It's like a therapy to me, you know! My kids are also ice cream lovers as when we go to any mall we always stopped by to have one be it Selecta or Herns or any other Mr. Softy type that you pass by in the mall as long as it's an ice cream.

But now I want McDo's Mcflurry where I can dip my fries into it. Sad I'm too lazy to get out of the house. Will just text my hubby to bring me one. Such cravings!

Cabinet Knobs

Buying things for the house is always a pleasure for me as I can project certain ambience when I choose the right kind. I see to it that I’m always there in selecting accessories, fixtures and appliances. I’m really keen on choosing the right material, color, made and quality, not necessarily the branded one as long as it has the quality. Like for our wardrobe cabinet I was the one who choose the bronze cabinet knobs for it so as to coordinate the semi-walnut color of our cabinet. Excited Josh

Josh was excited about school that he arranged everything that we bought; anyway forgive him as little kids really gets excited on small things. I told them that they're lucky because some children can't buy all things that they want because they can't afford them so they should take care of their things and appreciate even the small ones. I noticed when we were buying things in the bookstore that the usual rush of people on the month before the school opens is not there. Learning Golf

Golf as they say is the sports of the rich and famous. I can say it’s true as I’ve seen the status of living of most golf players are really in the above average level. Anyway that’s most of them as you can’t say all of them. Like for instance my colleagues in the telecoms industry learned to play golf because one of our big clients used to invite him to play golf whenever he ask for a meeting.

As its part of the sales and marketing job he succumbed and started learning the sports. Shopping for School Things

My kids especially Ruth and Gen were always there the reason why they want to buy their school things there. They say it's easier because they almost knew everything that the store has.

I've seen Ruth in SM getting a little teary-eyed as there are more people there and she can't fix her mind on choosing her things, she gets upset and I told her to give up and we'll just go to NB-Alimall. It was a quick 30-minute shopping at the bookstore as we didn't bring the car and it's starting to rain, it's just a 5-10 minute walk to the church. Grocery Day

Had one of those marketing and grocering days last Saturday but the happy part of that day was I brought along my kids, all three of them to market. First we dropped by the nearest booth of donuts, their favorites whatever the brand is just as long as it's a donut :-). As they happily walked with donuts in their hands I introduced them to things present in the market, fish, meat, chicken, fruits and vegetables.

We even entered the clothes shops there and I let them choose their personal things like sleep and housewear. It's pretty economical to buy there than on big department stores. After having bought all food items there we then crossed the overpass to eat at robinsons and buy some grocery items there including chicken which I personally prefer to buy in supermarkets especially when it's not early morning. Yes I only buy at wet markets if it's newly dressed.

It's nice having my kids accompany me on my marketing as I personally asked them what they want for our viands, kids also have preferences you know! I let them choose juices, biscuits, cupcakes, cereals, spreads and milk. They also love food shopping just like mommy :-)

Problem with Adding My Card

I got my EON debit card last May 9 and didn’t find the time to add this to my paypal account until today as I have other account care of my sis in-law. As I’m verifying my username and passwords in Union Bank my transactions went smoothly but when I finally add it to paypal the following lines appeared on my screen:

This credit card has been denied by the bank that issued your credit card. For details on why your card was denied, please contact your credit card issuer's customer service department. Or, you may want to try adding a different credit card.

And even when I tried it again twice it didn’t work, I was talking to and scolding myself why I didn’t add it the last few days. I was so busy with my work, my blog, my family and the coming school opening the reason why I always put some things behind me. Anyway I called customer service at 84-186 (works only in PLDT phones) and CSR Sandra assured me that there’s no problem with my card it’s just that they are currently experiencing connection problem with Visa. She told me to try adding it again on Thursday, no commitment! Meaning not sure if it will work, hmm! What a day! To be sure I'll try everyday :-)

Celebrating Mother's Day All Year Long

We all love our mothers, they are the ones who love us dearly and nurtured us with much loving care from the time we were born up to when we were big enough to care for ourselves. But that didn’t stop their caring for us as most of them extended their caring to our children which are their grandchildren. Actually our mother usually pampers our children spoiling them with their attention. Oh what would we do without our dear mothers, they are God’s gift to us. Every second week of May we celebrate mother’s day in appreciation of their sacrifices and love given to us without expecting anything in return.

To celebrate the occasion we plan ahead of time what would be the perfect activities. It is when we choose the flowers; we buy the card and cooked a special meal for her. She always cooks for us so it’s time that she sits and waits for our special cooked dinner for her, isn’t it exciting? After all it’s her very special day.

As I'm taking a low-carb diet these days I've been reading about cholesterol content of foods that we usually eat because it's also important to take note of the most common causes of health problems - the cholesterol. For working moms like me the most common problem why we tend to be fat is the lack of time planning and preparing separate food for us, separate because what we should eat should be less in everything - in carbo, fat,sugar and meat. In short, not very delicious food :-) but healthy. Of course our family should not suffer from this so the best is to prepare different kind of food for ourselves. Was crying yesterday night when I read my sister's post for Mother's Day. I was redirecting her blog to her domain name and adding some links when I saw her post titled Super Moms. As I go along her post I started to reminisce how my Mom raised us beautifully despite what happened to my father. Seat-In Classes

My niece Heidi who is a preparatory teacher in Baptist school has 2 summer tutorial classes for the past three weeks and will end next week. As she visited Josh yesterday she offered to take him to accompany her to her class and be a seat-in student. Josh agreed to go along with her but Heidi asked my daughter Ruth to accompany him for whatever assistance she may give to Josh as my niece will be busy with her students.

No need to bring or prepare anything just their food because Heidi has all the things ready, actually she's looking forward to teach Josh how to read because when she show some notes to Josh he readily recognized some of the basic sight words. One thing about Josh is that he easily gets tired if he already knows the answer. If he has a classmate by his side maybe it will fun for him. Anyway it's just a seat-in class.

Traffic and Weather
